Invasion of HeLa cells by Bordetella bronchiseptica

Microbial Pathogenesis, 1993
Invasion, defined as adhesion to, followed by entrance into HeLa cells by Bordetella bronchiseptica was determined by (i) specific staining of intracellular bacteria and (ii) counting of viable intracellular bacteria after killing extracellular bacteria with colistin. It was demonstrated for the first time that B.

Antibiotic susceptibility of canine Bordetella bronchiseptica isolates

Veterinary Microbiology, 2000
The antimicrobial sensitivities of 78 recent (1995-1998) canine isolates of Bordetella bronchiseptica from 13 separate sources were determined. Minimum inhibitory concentrations were assessed using the E-test method or by agar dilution. All 78 isolates were sensitive to tetracycline, doxycycline, enrofloxacin, and amoxycillin/clavulanic acid; the ...

Plasmids related to RSF1010 from Bordetella bronchiseptica

Plasmid, 1986
Six out of 14 Bordetella bronchiseptica isolates from U.K. pigs each contained one plasmid, of 8.7-44 kb. All plasmid-containing isolates were sulfonamide resistant, and this property was shown to be plasmid-encoded. Five of the plasmids were related; two were indistinguishable from the broad-host-range plasmid, RSF1010.

Rhodococcus equi and Bordetella bronchiseptica

2006
Magnusson first described pyogranulomatous pneumonia of foals due to Corynebacterium equi in 1923. The organism has since been reclassified as Rhodococcus equi (Prescott, 1991). There are currently 12 established Rhodococcus species that are phylogenetically grouped in the mycolate-containing genera including Corynebacterium, Mycobacterium, Nocardia ...
