The boreal summer intraseasonal oscillation (BSISO) is a key source of subseasonal to seasonal predictability, significantly enhancing precipitation in eastern China when BSISO convection is over the Indian Ocean. While background sea surface temperature

The Asian Summer Monsoon (ASM) is a major component of the global weather system with impacts on multiple scales. Driven by the thermal contrast between the Asian continent and the Indian and Pacific Oceans, the monsoon winds bring warm, moist air into the south Asian and maritime continents.

Synchronous Eurasian heat extremes tied to boreal summer combined extratropical intraseasonal waves
Heat extremes frequently hit different regions synchronously during boreal summer over the Eurasian continent. A remarkable coupling is first revealed between Eurasian heat extreme occurrence and individual extratropical intraseasonal oscillation (EISO).

Abstract The regional characteristics of the boreal summer intraseasonal oscillations (BSISO) over southeast Asia are presented. The northeastward transition of the BSISO is characterised by 4 phases, such that convection is enhanced over the Philippines and Indochina in phase 1 and suppressed over Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo and Java.

The Boreal Summer Intraseasonal Oscillation (BSISO) and Madden–Julian Oscillation (MJO) are two significant intraseasonal modulators of tropical weather. The effects of these two oscillations are mostly limited to particular seasons and regions.

Evolution of the 2006-2007 El Niño: the role of intraseasonal to interannual time scale dynamics [PDF]
International audienceWe describe development of the 2006-2007 El Niño, which started late, ended early and was below average strength. Emphasis is on the interplay between large scale, low frequency (i.e., seasonal-to-interannual time scale ...

The boreal summer intraseasonal oscillation (BSISO) over the western North Pacific (WNP) exhibits significant phase asymmetry, but a systematic classification of its asymmetric modes and their regional climatic impacts remains insufficiently explored ...

Boreal summer intraseasonal oscillation (BSISO) is highly related to summer monsoon activities, tropical cyclones, flood disasters, and other extreme weather events in the Northern Hemisphere. The propagation of BSISO has considerable complexity.
