Influence of boron content on the fracture toughness and fatigue crack propagation kinetics of bainitic steels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The relatively good combination of high strength and ductility makes bainitic steels a candidate to replace many other steels in industrial applications. However, in service, ductility and strength are not up to standard requirements.

Molecular Templating Enables Precise CeNiC2/Ni Heterostructures for Efficient Alkaline Hydrogen Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A series of Bi‐TMCs‐based heterostructures (CeNiC2/Ni‐x%) have been precisely constructed through a “molecular‐template”‐assisted strategy, which exhibits remarkable alkaline HOR performance derived from the strong synergy between Ni and CeNiC2 components.

A new approach to synthesize nano-yttrium boride particle through metallothermic reduction process [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mining and Metallurgy. Section B: Metallurgy, 2020
In the present study, a novel attempt is made to synthesize yttrium boride (YB4) nano-sized powders through metallothermic reduction method. The starting materials used were yttria (Y2O3) and boron oxide (B2O3) as reactants, and calcium (Ca) as reductant.

Selective Electrolysis of Water Under Artificial Seawater Conditions Using Transition Metal Borate Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
The borate‐based cobalt‐iron catalyst promotes selective oxidation of water rather than chlorine evolution reaction during electrolysis of seawater. When integrated into a zero‐gap electrolyzer prototype, this catalyst supports robust splitting of artificial seawater into oxygen and hydrogen on an extended timescale.

Design of a Nanometric AlTi Additive for MgB2-Based Reactive Hydride Composites with Superior Kinetic Properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Solid-state hydride compounds are a promising option for efficient and safe hydrogen-storage systems. Lithium reactive hydride composite system 2LiBH4 + MgH2/2LiH + MgB2 (Li-RHC) has been widely investigated owing to its high theoretical hydrogen-storage

The effect of alloying elements in Ti-5Mo-5V-8Cr-3Al alloy on growth kinetics of TiB whiskers in boride layer

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2023
As one of the important ways to improve surface properties of Ti alloys, the boride layer prepared by the pack boriding is closely related to the growth and morphology of TiB whiskers in the boride layer, whereas the growth and morphology of TiB whiskers

Computational study of boron nitride nanotube synthesis: how catalyst morphology stabilizes the boron nitride bond [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In an attempt to understand why catalytic methods for the growth of boron nitride nanotubes work much worse than for their carbon counterparts, we use first-principles calculations to study the energetics of elemental reactions forming N2, B2 and BN ...
