Growth Kinetics of CoB–Co2B Layers Using the Powder-Pack Boriding Process Assisted by a Direct Current Field

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2019
New results about the growth kinetics of CoB–Co2B layers developed at the surface of CoCrMo alloy using the powder-pack boriding process assisted by a direct current field (PBDCF) were estimated in this work.

RATE OF GROWTH OF BORIDE LAYERS ON STAINLESS STEELS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this study, the case properties and diffusion kinetics of AISI 310 and AISI 430 steels borided in Ekabor-II powder were investigated by conducting a series of experiments at temperatures of 1123, 1223 and 1323 K for 2, 4 and 6 h.

Enhancement of tribological behavior and microhardness of AISI H13 tool steel by electrochemical boriding

open access: yesScientific Reports
Iron boride coatings were developed on AISI H13 hot work tool steel using the electrochemical boriding method at temperatures of 850, 950, and 1050 °C for durations of 2, 4, and 6 h. The process was conducted at a current density of 200 mA/cm2, utilizing

Microstructural and tribological characterization of niobium boride coating produced on AISI 1020 steel via multicomponent boriding

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2020
Niobium boride coating was produced on AISI 1020 steel by multicomponent boriding process. Boriding treatment at1000 °C for 4 h was followed by thermo-reactive diffusion technique at 1000 °C for 6 h under argon atmosphere.

Investigation of the fracture mechanics of boride composites

open access: yes, 1971
Fracture energies of WC-6Co, Boride 5 (ZrB2+SiC), Boride 8(ZrB2+SiC+C) and Boride 8-M2(ZrB2+SiC+C) were measured by slow bend and impact tests of notched charpy bars.

Hydrogenation of Magnesium Nickel Boride for Reversible Hydrogen Storage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We report that a ternary magnesium nickel boride (MgNi_(2.5)B_2) mixed with LiH and MgH_2 can be hydrogenated reversibly forming LiBH_4 and Mg_2NiH_4 at temperatures below 300 °C. The ternary boride was prepared by sintering a mechanically milled mixture

Self-affine patterns of boride layers

open access: yes, 2007
In this study, the evaluation of interfaces on iron boride Fe2B growth obtained by paste boriding process was carried out. Fractal geometry is used like a powerful tool for the roughness analysis present during iron boride growth.

New transformation mechanism of TiB from Bf to B27 structure in β-solidified TiAl alloys

open access: yesMaterials Research Letters
Both transformations of structure and morphology occur on the borides formed in β-solidified TiAl alloys during heat treatment at 1300℃. Flake-like TiB(Bf) transforms to blocky TiB(B27).
