Targeting protein–protein interactions with reversible covalent modalities: Non‐cysteine chemistries

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Protein–protein interactions (PPIs) are central to diverse cellular functions, and represent a rapidly expanding class of therapeutic targets. Advancements in covalent drug design have enabled small‐molecule drugs to overcome challenges associated with engaging these targets, such as limited durations of action and difficult‐to‐drug (expansive,

A new branch of mammalian vitamin B6 metabolism: AKR1C‐mediated conversion of pyridoxal to pyridoxine and 4‐pyridoxolactone

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Pyridoxal 5′‐phosphate (PLP) homeostasis relies on salvage enzymes, yet key metabolic branches remain undefined. We identify AKR1C isozymes as previously undescribed contributors that convert pyridoxal into pyridoxine or 4‐pyridoxolactone through reductase and dehydrogenase activities.

Thermodynamic Mechanisms of Co‐S Bond Anchoring in Few‐Layered 1T‐MoS2 for Enhanced Capacitive Performance via Spin State Regulation and Ion Diffusion Kinetics

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
The one‐pot hydrothermal prep of Co‐doped few‐layer 1T‐MoS2 shows Co‐S bonds stabilizing the 1T phase, enhancing supercapacitor performance. Few‐layered 1T‐MoS2 is highly promising for supercapacitor applications due to its wide interlayer spacing, high electrical conductivity, and abundant active sites.

Synthesis, Characterization, Antioxidant Evaluation, Cytotoxicity Studies, and Molecular Docking of Novel Sulfonamide Derivatives

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 7, July 2026.
A series of novel sulfonamide derivatives (4a–i) were synthesized and characterized. Compound 4d showed significant antioxidant activity, while compounds 4g, 4h, and 4i exhibited high cytotoxicity against ovarian and prostate cancer cells, particularly 4h with a log IC50 of 1.343 µg/mL.

Photocatalytic Transfer Hydrogenation Using Plastic Hydrolysates as Hydrogen Donor

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 25, 15 June 2026.
Plastic waste is transformed into functional amines via solar‐driven transfer hydrogenation. Soluble monomers from acid hydrolysis of waste polymers serve as a hydrogen (electron/proton)donors in the selective reduction of nitroarenes using a visible light active photocatalyst consisting of cobalt promoted molybdenum disulfide integrated in cyanamide ...
