Tetrabutylammonium borohydride and its complex with aluminum borohydride
Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Division of Chemical Science, 19711. Tetrabutylammonium borohydride was obtained by the exchange reaction of tetrabutylammonium bromide with excess sodium borohydride in ether isopropyl alcohol or benzene medium. 2. Tetrabutylammonium borohydride aluminate, [(C4H9)4N] [Al(BH4)4], was synthesized by the reaction of the tetrabutylammonium and aluminum borohydrides.

Calcium borohydride reduces both aliphatic and aromatic esters to alcohols completely in the presence of alkene catalysts. The intermediate borates formed during the reduction of aromatic esters are converted to aldehydes with aqueous NaOC1 in good yields.

Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1968Sodium borohydride reacts with sulfur at room temperature in the presence of appropriate organic solvents to give a sulfurated borohydride: NaBH2S3. The formulation of this hydride has been established by infrared, nuclear magnetic resonance, and elementary analysis. Thermal decomposition and hydrolysis are reported.
