Theoretical study on interaction of hydrogen with single-walled boron nitride nanotubes. II. Collision, storage, and adsorption [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Collision and adsorption of hydrogen with high incident kinetic energies on a single-walled boron nitride (BN) nanotube have been investigated. Molecular-dynamics (MD) simulations indicate that at incident energies below 14 eV hydrogen bounces off the BN

Excitons in Boron Nitride Nanotubes: Dimensionality Effects [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2006
We show that the optical absorption spectra of boron nitride (BN) nanotubes are dominated by strongly bound excitons. Our first-principles calculations indicate that the binding energy for the first and dominant excitonic peak depends sensitively on the dimensionality of the system, varying from 0.7 eV in bulk hexagonal BN via 2.1 eV in the single ...

The effect of electric field on interaction of glycine with (6,0) single-walled boron nitride nanotube [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2013
The interaction between glycine molecule with (6, 0) zigzag model of single-walled boron nitride nanotube (BNNT) with H-terminated at the open ended, has been investigated in the presence and absence of the external electric field (EF), using the DFT ...

Stability of halloysite, imogolite, and boron nitride nanotubes in solvent media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Inorganic nanotubes are attracting the interest of many scientists and researchers, due to their excellent application potential in different fields. Among them, halloysite and imogolite, two naturally-occurring aluminosilicate mineral clays, as well as ...

Theory of graphitic boron nitride nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 1994
Based upon the similarities in properties between carbon- and BN-based (BN=boron nitride) materials, we propose that BN-based nanotubes can be stable and study their electronic structure. A simple Slater-Koster tight-binding scheme has been applied. All the BN nanotubes are found to be semiconducting materials.
