High and dry: Environmental conditions drive opportunities for disease transmission in desert bighorn sheep

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 7, July 2026.
By using probabilistic models to predict contacts as a function of spatially and temporally varying environmental conditions, we show that population‐level conditions at the time of disease introduction can structure opportunities for transmission within each population.

Development of a Closed Chest Model of Chronic Myocardial Infarction in Swine: Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Pathological Evaluation

open access: yesInternational Scholarly Research Notices, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
Our aim was to develop an easy‐to‐induce, reproducible, and low mortality clinically relevant closed‐chest model of chronic myocardial infarction in swine using intracoronary ethanol and characterize its evolution using MRI and pathology. We injected 3‐4 mL of 100% ethanol into the mid‐LAD of anesthetized swine.

Influência de protocolo Ovsynch sobre o comportamento sexual e a fertilidade de ovelhas e borregas

open access: yesResearch, Society and Development, 2022

Effects of selective harvest on antler size of white‐tailed deer in Texas, USA

open access: yesWildlife Monographs, Volume 222, Issue 1, June 2026.
We conducted 20 years of experiments on the selective harvest of white‐tailed deer by antler size, judged inferior, in 2 areas of South Texas, USA. Selective harvest increased the phenotypic antler size of older males in one study area but not the other. There was little evidence of evolution resulting from selective harvesting. Abstract There has been

Widespread SARS‐CoV‐2 Transmission Despite Limited Reported Cases and Clinical Disease: Exploring the Role of Pre‐Existing Humoral Immunity to SARS‐CoV‐2 in Eastern Sierra Leone

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Since December 2019, SARS‐CoV‐2 has infected over 700 million people and caused > 7 million deaths. While much of the global north was severely affected, sub‐Saharan Africa was relatively spared. Possible reasons include a younger population, fewer comorbidities, and pre‐existing immunity.
