EVIDENCES ABOUT HUMAN TICK-BORNE INFECTIONS IN CUBA

open access: yesActa Biomedica Scientifica, 2018
Serosurveys for IgG antibodies to Borrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto in a population exposed to tick bites (n = 247) and blood donors (n = 114) were done to assess the prevalence of tick-borne infections in. Seroprevalence of antiborrelial IgG antibodies

Mathematical Model and Optimal Control of the Transmission Dynamics of Avian Spirochaetosis (TICK Fever) [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Avian Spirochaetosis is an acute endemic tick-borne disease of birds, caused by Borrelia anserins, a species of Borrelia bacteria. In this paper, we present a compartmental Mathematical model of the disease for the bird population and Tick population. The model so constructed was analyzed using methods from dynamical systems theory.

Borrelia in Ethiopian ticks

open access: yesTicks and Tick-borne Diseases, 2012
Two regions (Jimma and Dire Dawa) in Ethiopia were investigated for the presence of soft ticks. Although no Ornithodoros spp. ticks were collected during this survey, published records of their existence in Ethiopia were found. An overwhelming infestation of Argas persicus was revealed in a village located adjacent to Dire Dawa.

Correlation between mutation pressure, selection pressure and occurrence of amino acids [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2003
We have found that the effective survival time of amino acids in organisms follows a power law with respect to frequency of their occurrence in genes. We have used mutation data matrix PAM1 PET91 to calculate selection pressure on each kind of amino acid.

Spatial and temporal analyses of Dermacentor variabilis (Say) (Acari: Ixodidae) in central and eastern Canada

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, EarlyView.
One thousand one hundred ninety‐eight adult Dermacentor variabilis (Say), a species of veterinary and human medical importance, were collected from companion animals in central and eastern Canada. Peaks in adult D. variabilis submissions occurred in May and June across the provinces. Most submissions of adult D.

Information weights of nucleotides in DNA sequences [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2003
The coding sequence in DNA molecule is considered as a message to be transferred to receiver, the proteins, through a noisy information channel and each nucleotide is assigned a respective information weight. With the help of the nucleotide substitution matrix we estimated the lower bound of the amount of information carried out by nucleotides which is

Increasing Prevalence of Syphilis: Oral Manifestations, Diagnosis and Management

open access: yesOral Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Cases of syphilis are increasing, with 9513 cases diagnosed in England in 2023, the highest annual number since 1948. Oral healthcare professionals should therefore be aware of how oral syphilis presents, the differential diagnosis and the appropriate care pathway and management.

Clinical features, treatment options and outcomes in primary cutaneous B‐cell lymphomas: a real‐world, multicenter, retrospective study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dermatology, Volume 64, Issue 5, Page 882-889, May 2025.
Clinical features, treatment options and outcomes in PCBCL. Abstract Background Primary cutaneous B‐cell lymphomas (PCBCLs) are rare cutaneous neoplasms with limited literature regarding treatment options and associated treatment outcomes. This study aimed to investigate and present real‐world treatment outcomes in patients with PCBCLs.
