Molecular Identification of Borrelia spp. from Ticks in Pastures Nearby Livestock Farms in Korea
Ticks are vectors that spread pathogenic bacteria, viruses, and protozoa. As the number of ticks increases due to climate change, the importance of the study of tick-borne pathogens has also increased.

Diversity within Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato genospecies in Switzerland by recA gene sequence [PDF]
A total of 874 Ixodes ricinus ticks were collected in Switzerland to investigate the genetic diversity of the Borrelia population. We integrated to the RT-PCR method the DNA sequence analysis of a 162-bp fragment of the recA gene.

Importance of Common Wall Lizards in the Transmission Dynamics of Tick-Borne Pathogens in the Northern Apennine Mountains, Italy [PDF]
During the investigations on ticks and tick-borne pathogens (TBP) range expansion in the Northern Apennines, we captured 107 Podarcis muralis lizards. Sixty-eight animals were infested by immature Ixodes ricinus, Haemaphysalis sulcata and H.

Tick-Borne Pathogens in Ticks Collected from Wild Ungulates in North-Eastern Poland
This study was carried out in north-eastern Poland during two hunting seasons between 2018 and 2020. Ticks (Ixodes ricinus and Dermacentor reticulatus) were removed from wild cervids and boars and examined for the presence of Borrelia spirochetes and ...

Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato in Ixodes ricinus ticks collected from migratory birds in Southern Norway [PDF]
Background Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato (s.l.) are the causative agent for Lyme borreliosis (LB), the most common tick-borne disease in the northern hemisphere.

This study investigates the plasmonic properties and biosensing capabilities of a nanocomposite incorporating Cu and Ag nanoparticles for detecting anti‐DbpA antibodies associated with Lyme disease. The enhanced LSPR response is explained through FDTD simulations of Cu–Ag near‐field interactions and increased surface roughness.

Navigating infection by pathogenic spirochetes: The host‐bacteria interface at the atomic level
Abstract Pathogenic spirochetes bind and interact with various host structures and molecules throughout the course of infection. By utilizing their outer surface molecules, spirochetes can effectively modulate their dissemination, interact with immune system regulators, and select specific destination niches within the host.

ABSTRACT Introduction Lyme neuroborreliosis (NB), is caused by tick‐borne spirochetes in the Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato (Bbsl) genospecies complex. Although the clinical manifestations of NB in adults and children are well documented, understanding neurobiological differences between these groups can improve diagnostic accuracy and treatment ...
