Diversity of Borrelia burgdorferi Sensu Lato in Russian Far East

Microbiology and Immunology, 2005
AbstractThirty strains of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato have been isolated from Ixodes persulcatus ticks and from skin lesions of Lyme disease patients in the Russian Far East from 1997 to 2003. We amplified full‐length outer surface protein A (ospA) gene of all strains.

Arguments against the involvement of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato in Alzheimer's disease

Research in Microbiology, 1998
The involvement of spirochaetes, such as the aetiologic agent of Lyme borreliosis, Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato, in Alzheimer's disease (AD), a common neuropathology, has been proposed by several groups in the past. In our laboratory, brains from 10 AD patients were analysed for the presence of B.

Isolation And Characterisation Of Bacteriophages Infecting Borrelia Burgdorferi Sensu Lato

2020
Bacterial species of the Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato (s.l.) complex are the main causative agents of Lyme disease. The disease is transmitted to humans by infected ticks. There are currently no vaccines available. Lyme disease can be effectively managed with antibiotics, such as Amoxicillin and Doxycycline, if it is diagnosed early. Phages (viruses
