Impact of vertebrate communities on Ixodes ricinus-borne disease risk in forest areas

open access: yesParasites & Vectors, 2019
Background The density of questing ticks infected with tick-borne pathogens is an important parameter that determines tick-borne disease risk. An important factor determining this density is the availability of different wildlife species as hosts for ...

In-vitro-Sensibilität von Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato gegenüber vier Antibiotika: ein Vergleich der Genospezies Borrelia afzelii, Borrelia garinii und Borrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
MICs and minimal bactericidal concentrations (MBCs) were evaluated for the four antibiotics azithromycin, amoxicillin, ceftriaxone, and doxycycline against the three main genospecies of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato.

Vector Competence of Ixodes scapularis and Ixodes ricinus (Acari: Ixodidae) for Three Genospecies of Borrelia burgdorferi [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The vector competence of 2 tick species, Ixodes ricinus (L.) and Ixodes scapularis Say, was determined and compared for 3 genospecies of Borrelia burgdorferi. The 3 genospecies of B. burgdorferi used in the following experiments were Borrelia burgdorferi

Migratory Passerine Birds as Reservoirs of Lyme Borreliosis in Europe

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2006
To define the role of birds as reservoirs and disseminators of Borrelia spirochetes, we characterized tick infestation and reservoir competence of migratory passerine birds in Sweden.
