Prevalence of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto, Borrelia afzelii, Borrelia garinii, and Borrelia valaisiana in Ixodes ricinus ticks from the northwest of Norway

Scandinavian Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2013
Over a 3-y period, Ixodes ricinus ticks were randomly collected to study the prevalence of 4 Borrelia species: B. burgdorferi sensu stricto, B. afzelii, B. garinii and B. valaisiana. While B. burgdorferi s. s., B. afzelii, and B. garinii have been associated with human borreliosis in Norway for several years, B.

Persistence of Borrelia garinii and Borrelia afzelii in patients with lyme arthritis

Zentralblatt für Bakteriologie, 1999
We repeatedly detected DNA of Borrelia garinii or B. afzelii and Borrelia-like structures in the blood, joint fluid or in the synovium of 10 patients with Lyme arthritis by means of the polymerase chain reaction and immunoelectron microscopy at 2-4-month intervals in the course of two years.

The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal, 2019
BACKGROUND Information on the etiology of Lyme neuroborreliosis (LNB) in children in Europe and the influence of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato species isolated from cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) on clinical presentation of LNB in children are limited ...

Prva izolacija Borreliae garinii u Hrvatskoj

Occurrence of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto, Borrelia garinii and Borrelia afzelii in the Ixodes ricinus ticks from Eastern Slovakia

European Journal of Epidemiology, 2000
A total of 2816 unfed adults nymphs of Ixodes ricinus ticks were collected from vegetation in Kosice (Eastern Slovakia) from 1994 to 1997. Prevalence of Borrelia burgdorferi s. l. in I. ricinus ticks, detected by dark field microscopy, varied and depended upon the year and the habitat of the collected ticks.

Infection rate ofIxodes ricinus ticks withBorrelia afzelii, Borrelia garinii, andBorrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto in Slovenia

European Journal of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases, 1995
In spring 1993, Ixodes ricinus ticks were collected from six regions of Slovenia to determine their overall rate of infection with Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato and to assess the frequency of individual species in these tick populations. Ticks were dissected and midgut tissue inoculated into modified Barbour-Stoenner-Kelly (BSK II) medium.

Protein profile determination of Borrelia afzelii and Borrelia garinii isolated from skin and cerebrospinal fluid

World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2009
In Europe the initial skin manifestation of Lyme borreliosis (erythema migrans) is predominantly caused by Borrelia afzelii while nervous system involvement is usually associated with Borrelia garinii. The aim of our study was to compare protein profiles of B. afzelii and B.

[Antibodies against Borrelia garinii in diagnosis of Lyme disease].

Przeglad lekarski, 2000
Prevalence of antibodies against Borrelia garinii (Bg) was analysed in sera of 42 patients with Lyme borreliosis confirmed through demonstration of antibodies against antigen 41 kDa of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto (Bbss). IgM or IgG antibodies against Bg were found in sera of 88% patients.
