New BPS states from bosonic/heterotic duality
In this paper, we consider the recently proposed bosonic/heterotic duality that relates the heterotic superstrings to the noncritical bosonic string. Although the latter is nonsupersymmetric, it can be viewed as pseudo-supersymmetric in that the theory ...

Strings in AdS_3 and the SL(2,R) WZW Model. Part 1: The Spectrum [PDF]
In this paper we study the spectrum of bosonic string theory on AdS_3. We study classical solutions of the SL(2,R) WZW model, including solutions for long strings with non-zero winding number.

Open String Renormalization Group Flow as a Field Theory
Abstract This article shows that the integral flow‐lines of the RG‐flow of open string theory can be interpreted as the solitons of a Hořova–Lifshitz sigma‐model of open membranes. The authors argue that the effective background description of this model implies the g‐theorem of open string theory.

Algebraic Quantization of the Closed Bosonic String [PDF]
The gauge invariant observables of the closed bosonic string are quantized without anomalies in four space-time dimensions by constructing their quantum algebra in a manifestly covariant approach. The quantum algebra is the kernel of a derivation on the universal envelopping algebra of an infinite-dimensional Lie algebra.

Instant Folded Strings (IFSs) are unconventional light strings that emerge when the string coupling increases with time. A particularly intriguing property of IFSs, especially relevant to cosmology, is that they violate the Null Energy Condition (NEC ...

Moduli Space Dimensions of Multi-Pronged Strings [PDF]
The numbers of bosonic and fermionic zero modes of multi-pronged strings are counted in ${\cal N}=4$ super-Yang-Mills theory and compared with those of the IIB string theory.

Abstract For large classes of even‐dimensional Riemannian manifolds (M,g)$(M,g)$, we construct and analyze conformally invariant random fields. These centered Gaussian fields h=hg$h=h_g$, called co‐polyharmonic Gaussian fields, are characterized by their covariance kernels k which exhibit a precise logarithmic divergence: |k(x,y)−log1d(x,y)|≤C$\big ...

Performance of Rotation‐Symmetric Bosonic Codes in a Quantum Repeater Network
This work shows the performance of a quantum repeater protocol embedded with the rotation‐symmetric bosonic codes in a quantum key distribution scenario. The secret key rate greatly outperforms the bound of direct channel transmission, as well as the rate of the cat codes.

We show how starting with one-string space of states in BRST formalism one can construct a large class of physical quantities containing, in particular, scattering amplitudes for bosonic string and superstring.
