We perform a high precision measurement of the static q q ¯ $$ q\overline{q} $$ potential in three-dimensional SU(N) gauge theory with N = 2, 3 and compare the results to the potential obtained from the effective string theory.

String Theory is a hot topic of physics and mathematics. For the former, it stands as a huge sandbox where the formulation of difficult problems can be simplified and their hard computations carried out. For the latter, it stands as a direct contribution upstream, going from physics to maths, rather than the usual other way around.

Actions for the bosonic string with the curved worldsheet [PDF]
At first we introduce an action for the string, which leads to a worldsheet that always is curved. For this action we study the Poincar symmetry and the associated conserved currents. Then, a generalization of the above action, which contains an arbitrary function of the two-dimensional scalar curvature, will be introduced.

Finite size effect from classical strings in deformed AdS3× S3
We study the finite size effect of rigidly rotating and spinning folded strings in (AdS 3 × S 3) ϰ background. We calculate the leading order exponential corrections to the infinite size dispersion relation of the giant magnon, and single spike solutions.

Abstract A precise treatment of ghost bosonization is given in the operator framework without employing conformal field theory techniques. This is then applied to reformulate Virasoro BRS cohomology using bosonic coordinates but without a ghost number degree of freedom. Subsequent analysis reveals a rather elegant structure.

All-order splits and multi-soft limits for particle and string amplitudes
The most important aspects of scattering amplitudes have long been thought to be associated with their poles. But recently a very different sort of “split” factorizations for a wide range of particle and string tree amplitudes have been discovered away ...
