Quantized strings and instantons in holography [PDF]
We study worldsheet instantons in holographic type IIA backgrounds directly in string theory. The first background is a dimensional reduction of AdS7 × S4 and is dual to the maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory on S5. The second background is AdS4 ×

On the quantization of folded strings in non-critical dimensions
Classical rotating closed string are folded strings. At the folding points the scalar curvature associated with the induced metric diverges. As a consequence one cannot properly quantize the fluctuations around the classical solution since there is no ...

The T-dual symmetries of a bosonic string [PDF]
We investigate whether the symmetry transformations of a bosonic string are connected by T-duality. We start with a standard closed string theory. We continue with a modified open string theory, modified to preserve the symmetry transformations possessed by the closed string theory.

On realizing the bosonic string as a noncritical W3-string [PDF]
We discuss a realization of the bosonic string as a noncritical $W_3$-string. The relevant noncritical $W_3$-string is characterized by a Liouville sector which is restricted to a (non-unitary) $(3,2)$ $W_3$ minimal model with central charge contribution $c_l = - 2$.

Bosonic sectorized strings and the (DF)2 theory [PDF]
In this work, we investigate the bosonic chiral string in the sectorized inter- pretation, computing its spectrum, kinetic action and 3-point amplitudes. As expected, the bosonic ambitwistor string is recovered in the tensionless limit.

Killing spinors for the bosonic string [PDF]
We obtain the effective action for the bosonic string with arbitrary Yang-Mills fields, up to the ' order, in general dimensions. The form of the action is determined by the requirement that the action admit well-defined Killing spinor equations, whose projected integrability conditions give rise to the full set of equations of motion. The success of

Degeneracy Between the Regge Slope of Mesons and Baryons from Supersymmetry [PDF]
We consider the degeneracy between the Regge slope of mesons and baryons in QCD. We argue that within the "orientifold large-N approximation" asymptotically massive mesons and baryons become supersymmetric partners and hence degenerate.

Quantizing the rotating string with massive endpoints
We compute leading order quantum corrections to the Regge trajectory of a rotating string with massive endpoints using semiclassical methods. We expand the bosonic string action around a classical rotating solution to quadratic order in the fluctuations ...

Fundamental membranes and the string dilaton
We study the quantization of the bosonic sector of supermembrane theory in double dimensional reduction, in order to extract the dependence of the resulting world-sheet action on the string dilaton (which cannot be obtained from a purely kinematic ...
