Depth trajectory and performance of a trawl used for an international bottom trawl survey in the Mediterranean

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2002
An international bottom trawl survey (the MEDITS programme) has been carried out every year in the Mediterranean since 1994. During each survey, about 1000 hauls are done by a fleet of 8 to 11 vessels from 10 to 800 m depth, applying a unique standardized sampling protocol.

The EU's Strategy for Sustainability: A Landmark Turn With the European Green Deal?

open access: yesEuropean Policy Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT While the European Green Deal (EGD) has been widely recognized as a milestone in the EU's sustainability strategy, scholars disagree on the nature of the policy change it represents. Critics highlight its limited social and environmental ambitions, despite its portrayal as a “man on the moon” moment.

Fish diversity assessment and semi-quantitative biomass estimation through metabarcoding of environmental DNA

open access: yesEcological Indicators
A sustainable management of marine fisheries resources requires the continuous development and adaptation of monitoring and tracking techniques, both in terms of species diversity and abundance.

First implementation of the Large Fish Index (LFI) in the eastern Mediterranean

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2014
The composition and structure of fish assemblages caught by trawl in the Levantine Sea (eastern Mediterranean) were summarized using a fishing-sensitive univariate indicator.

Forced Draught Impact on Externally Venting Flames: An Experimental and Numerical Investigation

open access: yesFire and Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Wind can significantly influence fire development and spread in urban and forest environments causing fatal consequences for the public, the first responders, and the environment. Wind‐driven fires can have a significant impact on structural fires as wind can increase the fire's intensity, development, and flame spread.

An Experimental Investigation on the Impact of Burner Height and Location on the Characteristics of Externally Venting Flames

open access: yesFire and Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Fire sources in actual compartment fires exhibit a predominantly uneven spatial distribution. In this context, the impact of the height and location of the fire source, as well as the heat release rate (HRR) of the fire, on the thermal characteristics of Externally Venting Flames (EVF) is experimentally investigated.

Vertical and horizontal environmental DNA (eDNA) patterns of fish in a shallow and well-mixed North Sea area

open access: yesScientific Reports
The integration of eDNA metabarcoding into monitoring programs provides valuable information about fish community structures. Despite the growing body of evidence supporting the method's effectiveness in distinguishing fine-scale eDNA signals, there is a

Analysis Of Cpue From The Norwegian Bottom Trawl Fleet

open access: yes, 2000
No abstracts are to be cited without prior reference to the author.Commercial logbooks with catch and effort data have been collected and recorded by the Norwegian Direcorate of Fisheries since 1971. Annual age segregated CPUE indices are calculated with different methods for North-east Arctic cod, North-east Arctic haddock and North-east Arctic saithe.
