Near-bottom sampling with bottom and pelagic trawls

open access: yes, 1987
The Institute of Marine Research, Bergen, has carried out combined bottom trawl and acoustic surveys for cod and haddock in the Barents Sea - Svalbard area since 1981. These investigations have demonstrated clearly that the currently applied survey methods considerably underestimate the young age groups of cod.

Advancing ecological assessment: towards the integration of eDNA metabarcoding into an estuarine fish index

open access: yesEcological Indicators
In the face of increasing anthropogenic pressures on estuarine ecosystems, methods to efficiently and reliably assess their ecological status are essential. This study explores the integration of environmental DNA analysis into the AZTI’s Fish Index (AFI)

Spatio-temporal trends in diversity of demersal fish assemblages in the Mediterranean

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2019
The high species richness, coupled with high proportion of endemism, makes the Mediterranean one of the world’s ‘biodiversity hotspots’. However, the continuous increase in fisheries in the last few decades has led to the overexploitation of their main ...

Integral Experiments and Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Lab‐Scale Liquid Distributors

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
Four lab‐scale liquid distributors were evaluated based on the homogeneity of the resulting liquid distribution. The best‐performing design reduced maldistribution and wall flow compared to a single‐point liquid distribution and remained stable under varying operating conditions, including different gas and liquid loads.
