Bouncing surface plasmons

open access: yesOptics Express, 2007
Employing an interferometric cavity ring-down technique we study the launching, propagation and reflection of surface plasmons on a smooth gold-air interface that is intersected by two parallel, sub-wavelength wide slits. Inside the low-finesse optical cavity defined by these slits the surface plasmon is observed to make multiple bounces.

Inhibition of CDK9 enhances AML cell death induced by combined venetoclax and azacitidine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The CDK9 inhibitor AZD4573 downregulates c‐MYC and MCL‐1 to induce death of cytarabine (AraC)‐resistant AML cells. This enhances VEN + AZA‐induced cell death significantly more than any combination of two of the three drugs in AraC‐resistant AML cells.

Holographic bounce

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2019
We investigate the bounce realization arising from the application of the holographic principle in the early universe, inspired by its well-studied late-time application.

Bounce-averaged Fokker-Planck diffusion equation in non-dipolar magnetic fields with applications to the Dungey magnetosphere [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2012
We perform a detailed derivation of the bounce-averaged relativistic Fokker-Planck diffusion equation applicable to arbitrary magnetic field at a constant Roederer L. The form of the bounce-averaged diffusion equation is found regardless of details of

Singularity avoidance in quantum-inspired inhomogeneous dust collapse [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In a previous paper, some of us studied general relativistic homogeneous gravitational collapses for dust and radiation, in which the density profile was replaced by an effective density justified by some quantum gravity models.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Impulse in a Double Ball Bounce

open access: yesInternational Scholastic Journal of Science, 2010
A steel ball was dropped onto a handball which was resting on top of a horizontal Vernier force-plate. The relationship between the impact momentum of the steel ball and the impulse on the force-plate was investigated. The measured impulse

New Classes of Solutions for Euclidean Scalar Field Theories

open access: yesUniverse
This paper presents new classes of exact radial solutions to the nonlinear ordinary differential equation that arises as a saddle-point condition for a Euclidean scalar field theory in D-dimensional spacetime.

Prostate-specific antigen bounce following stereotactic body radiation therapy for prostate cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2014
Introduction: Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) bounce after brachytherapy has been well-documented. This phenomenon has also been identified in patients undergoing stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT).

Quantum nature of cosmological bounces

open access: yes, 2008
Several examples are known where quantum gravity effects resolve the classical big bang singularity by a bounce. The most detailed analysis has probably occurred for loop quantum cosmology of isotropic models sourced by a free, massless scalar.
