Crouzeix–Raviart boundary elements

open access: yesNumerische Mathematik, 2009
The authors analyze a non-conforming boundary element method with discontinuous elements. More precisely, the use of piecewise linear Crouzeix-Raviart elements where jumps of basis functions across element boundaries have integral mean zero is studied. The meshes are triangular and regular, but the basis functions are not continuous.

Applicability of RANS, DES and LES in propeller flow noise

open access: yesZhongguo Jianchuan Yanjiu, 2017
[Objectives] In order to study the applicability of different turbulence models in propeller flow noise prediction, taking the DTMB 4119 propeller as the research object, the numerical simulation method is used to calculate the frequency domain noise ...

Convergence analysis of the scaled boundary finite element method for the Laplace equation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The scaled boundary finite element method (SBFEM) is a relatively recent boundary element method that allows the approximation of solutions to PDEs without the need of a fundamental solution.

The scs′ Boundary Element: Characterization of Boundary Element-Associated Factors

open access: yesMolecular and Cellular Biology, 1997
Boundary elements are thought to define the peripheries of chromatin domains and to restrict enhancer-promoter interactions to their target genes within their domains. We previously characterized a cDNA encoding the BEAF-32A protein (32A), which binds with high affinity to the scs' boundary element from the Drosophila melanogaster 87A7 hsp70 locus ...

Buckling and vibration analysis of laminated composite plate/shell structures via a smoothed quadrilateral flat shell element with in-plane rotations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper presents buckling and free vibration analysis of composite plate/shell structures of various shapes, modulus ratios, span-to-thickness ratios, boundary conditions and lay-up sequences via a novel smoothed quadrilateral flat element.

Construction and application of adaptive semi-Infinite boundary element with dynamic problems on half-plane [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2020
For thedynamic problem ofhalf-plane, if the radiation condition at the semi-infinite boundary is not taken into account in the numerical calculation, the accuracy of the result will be affected. In this paper, the basic theory of time-domain boundary ...

Isogeometric FEM-BEM coupled structural-acoustic analysis of shells using subdivision surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We introduce a coupled finite and boundary element formulation for acoustic scattering analysis over thin shell structures. A triangular Loop subdivision surface discretisation is used for both geometry and analysis fields.

Modified Green's Functions for Shallow Water Acoustic Wave Propagation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This article presents an assessment of alternative forms of the Green’s function for boundary element simulations of acoustic wave propagation in shallow water. It is assumed that the problem is two-dimensional, the source of acoustic disturbance is time-

Semi-analytical approximation of the normal derivative of the heat simple layer potential near the boundary of a two-dimensional domain [PDF]

open access: yesИзвестия Саратовского университета. Новая серия: Математика. Механика. Информатика
A semi-analytical approximation of the normal derivative of the simple layer heat potential near the boundary of a two-dimensional domain with $C^{5} $ smoothness is proposed.

A Galerkin boundary element method for high frequency scattering by convex polygons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper we consider the problem of time-harmonic acoustic scattering in two dimensions by convex polygons. Standard boundary or finite element methods for acoustic scattering problems have a computational cost that grows at least linearly as a ...
