Coupling of Finite and Boundary Elements for Transient Eddy Current Problems
A symmetric coupling of methods of finite and boundary elements for numerical solution of transient eddy current problems is described. This is an essential step in modelling of electromagnetic forming of metalic sheets.

Recent Advancements in the Tribological Modelling of Rough Interfaces
This paper analyses some effective strategies proposed in the last few years to tackle contact mechanics problems involving rough interfaces. In particular, we present Boundary Element Methods capable of solving the contact with great accuracy and, at ...

Boundary elements and nuclear organization [PDF]
Abstract Functional compartmentalization of eukaryotic genomes is thought to be necessary for the proper regulation of gene expression. Chromatin insulators or boundary elements have been implicated in the establishment of this compartmentalization, as they may be involved in creating independent chromatin domains.

SHIELD: a platform for high-throughput screening of barrier-type DNA elements in human cells
Chromatin boundary elements contribute to the partitioning of mammalian genomes into topological domains to regulate gene expression. Certain boundary elements are adopted as DNA insulators for safe and stable transgene expression in mammalian cells ...

Boundary Element Methods with Weakly Imposed Boundary Conditions [PDF]
We consider boundary element methods where the Calderón projector is used for the system matrix and boundary conditions are weakly imposed using a particular variational boundary operator designed using techniques from augmented Lagrangian methods. Regardless of the boundary conditions, both the primal trace variable and the flux are approximated.

p‐adaptive boundary elements [PDF]
AbstractThis paper presents the implementation of an adaptive philosophy to plane potential problems, using the direct boundary element method. After some considerations about the state of the art and a discussion of the standard approach features, the possibility of separately treating the modelling of variables and their interpolation through ...

The effects of alloying elements (Si, Cr, Mo) on the solution and diffusion of oxygen (O) atoms at the grain boundary of iron (Fe) Σ5(310)/[001] are investigated by the simulations of ab initio density functional theory (DFT). It is found that Si, Mo and
