Well-posedness of a parabolic moving-boundary problem in the setting of Wasserstein Gradient Flows
We develop a gradient-flow framework based on the Wasserstein metric for a parabolic moving-boundary problem that models crystal dissolution and precipitation. In doing so we derive a new weak formulation for this moving-boundary problem and we show that

Viscoelastic Boundary Value Problems
Some problems with linear viscoelastic materials can be reduced to corresponding problems in elasticity, provided that the boundary regions satisfy certain conditions. The present note gives an alternative derivation of a method which can be used when the boundary regions vary in a quite complicated manner.

A Dislocation Perspective on Strength and Toughness in Ceramics
Dislocations in ceramics enjoy a long but yet under‐appreciated history. The three research waves for dislocations in ceramics highlight the topic evolution over the last 90 years. This review focuses on the impact of dislocation on strength and toughness in ceramics.

This work shows that the mechanical performance of multimaterial digital light processing (DLP) printed thermoset composites is governed by resin compatibility and interfacial design rather than spatial patterning alone. Brittle and ductile resin combinations produced premature interfacial failure, while graded interfaces and mechanically compatible ...

This article presents an experimental and numerical modal investigation of composite sandwich structures using surfboards as model systems. By comparing different core materials and reinforcement strategies, the study demonstrates how local stiffeners influence vibrational response and introduce characteristic modal features, highlighting modal ...

Numerical solution of a parabolic free boundary problem arising in statistical decision theory
A parabolic free boundary problem which arises in a statistical decision setting is reduced to a free boundary problem for the heat equation which is amenable to numerical solution by the method of lines. An algorithm is given and the apparently globally

On Bernoulli boundary value problem
We give a constructive proof of the existence and uniqueness of the solution, under certain conditions, by Picard’s iteration. Moreover Newton’s iteration method is considered for the numerical computation of the solution.

Experiments and thermophysical simulations were conducted to investigate the electron beam powder bed fusion electron beam (PBF‐EB/M) process for the γ′‐strengthened nickel‐based superalloy Inconel 738LC. The results demonstrate the impact of process‐induced microstructural variations on high‐temperature mechanical behavior, providing a basis for ...

A Hopf bifurcation in a parabolic free boundary problem
The occurrence of a Hopf bifurcation in a free boundary problem for a parabolic partial differential equation is investigated. The bifurcation parameter τ is contained in the equation which describes the evolution of the free boundary.

Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...
