Transport and heat transfer of time dependent MHD slip flow of nanofluids in solar collectors with variable thermal conductivity and thermal radiation

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2016
In this paper, the unsteady magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) boundary layer slip flow and heat transfer of nanofluid in a solar collector, modeled mathematically as a nonlinear stretching sheet is investigated numerically.

Influence of Slippery Pacemaker Leads on Lead-Induced Venous Occlusion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The use of medical devices such as pacemakers and implantable cardiac defibrillators have become commonplace to treat arrhythmias. Pacing leads with electrodes are used to send electrical pulses to the heart to treat either abnormally slow heart rates ...

A Universal Molecular-Kinetic Scaling Relation for Slip of a Simple Fluid at a Solid Boundary

open access: yes, 2019
Using the observation that slip in simple fluids at low and moderate shear rates is a thermally activated process driven by the shear stress in the fluid close to the solid boundary, we develop a molecular-kinetic model for simple fluid slip at solid ...

Influence of Test Temperature and Test Frequency on Fatigue Life of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of test temperature and test frequency on the fatigue life of EN AW‐2618A is investigated. High‐cycle fatigue tests are performed at different test temperatures and frequencies on the 1000 h/230°C overaged state. Both test parameters reduce fatigue life due to time‐dependent damage mechanisms.

Implementation of on-site velocity boundary conditions for D3Q19 lattice Boltzmann

open access: yes, 2010
On-site boundary conditions are often desired for lattice Boltzmann simulations of fluid flow in complex geometries such as porous media or microfluidic devices.

High‐Temperature Nanoindentation of Metals: Assessing Thermal Drift, Frame Compliance, and Chemical Composition Effects on the Reported Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...

Hydrodynamic and thermal slip effect on double-diffusive free convective boundary layer flow of a nanofluid past a flat vertical plate in the moving free stream.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
The effects of hydrodynamic and thermal slip boundary conditions on the double-diffusive free convective flow of a nanofluid along a semi-infinite flat solid vertical plate are investigated numerically. It is assumed that free stream is moving.

Creep Properties and Deformation Mechanism of Additively Manufactured NiAl‐CrMo Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additively manufactured NiAl‐CrMo composites contain numerous interfaces and cell boundaries that control their creep response. At 700°C under high applied stress, creep is dominated by dislocation‐controlled power‐law mechanisms. At 800°C–900°C and lower stresses, creep is primarily diffusion‐controlled along cell boundaries.

Effects of slip on sheet-driven boundary layer flow revisited [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The study of laminar boundary layer flow over a stretching sheet has received considerable attention in the past due to its immense applications in the industries.

Workflow for Design of Experiments‐Based Modeling of Species Transport and Growth Kinetics in GaN Hydride Vapor Phase Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.
