Down‐regulation of Shh in the hair follicles of mice during chemotherapy‐induced hair loss is mediated by the JAK/STAT1 signaling pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We found that during chemotherapy‐induced alopecia (CIA), Sonic hedgehog (Shh) expression significantly decreased in hair follicle Shh+ cells, whereas the Janus‐activated kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (JAK/STAT1) signaling pathway was markedly activated.

Viscoelastic Boundary Value Problems

open access: yesIrish Mathematical Society Bulletin, 1986
Some problems with linear viscoelastic materials can be reduced to corresponding problems in elasticity, provided that the boundary regions satisfy certain conditions. The present note gives an alternative derivation of a method which can be used when the boundary regions vary in a quite complicated manner.

Parabolic power concavity and parabolic boundary value problems

open access: yes, 2013
This paper is concerned with power concavity properties of the solution to the parabolic boundary value problem \begin{equation} \tag{$P$} \left\{\begin{array}{ll} \partial_t u=\Delta u +f(x,t,u,\nabla u) & \mbox{in}\quad\Omega\times(0,\infty),\vspace ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

A New Algorithm Based on the Homotopy Perturbation Method For a Class of Singularly Perturbed Boundary Value Problems

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Extension, 2013
. In this paper, a new algorithm is presented to approximate the solution of a singularly perturbed boundary value problem with leftlayer based on the homotopy perturbation technique and applying the Laplace transformation. The convergence theorem and

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

Overdetermined boundary value problems for the $\infty$-Laplacian

open access: yes, 2009
We consider overdetermined boundary value problems for the $\infty$-Laplacian in a domain $\Omega$ of $\R^n$ and discuss what kind of implications on the geometry of $\Omega$ the existence of a solution may have.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Initial-boundary value problems for discrete evolution equations: discrete linear Schrodinger and integrable discrete nonlinear Schrodinger equations

open access: yes, 2008
We present a method to solve initial-boundary value problems for linear and integrable nonlinear differential-difference evolution equations. The method is the discrete version of the one developed by A. S.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
