Network Effects in a Bounded Confidence Model
The bounded confidence model has become a popular tool for studying communities of epistemically interacting agents. The model makes the idealizing assumption that all agents always have access to all other agents' belief states. We draw on resources from network epistemology to do away with this assumption.

A Bounded Confidence Model That Preserves the Signs of the Opinions [PDF]
The aim of this paper is to suggest a modification to the usual bounded confidence model of opinion dynamics, so that “changes of opinion” (intended as changes of the sign of the initial state) of an agent are never induced by the dynamics. In order to do so, a bipartite consensus model is used, endowing it with a confidence range. The resulting signed

Mis- and Disinformation in a Bounded Confidence Model
Abstract The bounded confidence model has been widely used to formally study groups of agents who are sharing opinions with those in their epistemic neighborhood. We revisit the model with an eye toward studying mis- and disinformation campaigns, which have been much in the news of late.

Bounded-Confidence Models of Opinion Dynamics With Adaptive Confidence Bounds
Abstract. People’s opinions change with time as they interact with each other. In a bounded-confidence model (BCM) of opinion dynamics, individuals (which are represented by the nodes of a network) have continuous-valued opinions and are influenced by neighboring nodes whose opinions are sufficiently similar to theirs (i.e., are ...

Dynamics of Linguistic Opinion Formation in Bounded Confidence Model [PDF]
Abstract Opinion dynamics is a fusion process of individual opinions based on the established fusion rules. The existing opinion dynamics models assume that agents express and receive their opinions in a numerical way. In this paper, we focus on the opinion formation in linguistic environment (i.e., linguistic opinion formation), and propose a ...

Emergence of Polarization in a Sigmoidal Bounded-Confidence Model of Opinion Dynamics
Abstract. We study a nonlinear bounded-confidence model (BCM) of continuous-time opinion dynamics on networks with both persuadable individuals and zealots. The model is parameterized by a nonnegative scalar [Formula: see text], which controls the steepness of a smooth influence function.
