Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Hybrid bounds for automorphic forms on ellipsoids over number fields [PDF]
AbstractWe prove upper bounds for Hecke–Laplace eigenfunctions on certain Riemannian manifolds $X$ of arithmetic type, uniformly in the eigenvalue and the volume of the manifold. The manifolds under consideration are $d$-fold products of $2$-spheres or $3$-spheres, realized as adelic quotients of quaternion algebras over totally real number fields.

Ellipsoidal constrained state estimation in presence of bounded disturbances [PDF]
This contribution proposes a recursive, computationally efficient, ready-to-use, online method for the ellipsoidal state characterization for linear discrete-time models with additive unknown disturbances vectors (bounded by known possibly degenerate zonotopes) corrupting both the state difference equation and the sporadic measurement vectors, which ...

Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Approximating Hereditary Discrepancy via Small Width Ellipsoids
The Discrepancy of a hypergraph is the minimum attainable value, over two-colorings of its vertices, of the maximum absolute imbalance of any hyperedge.

KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...

This work considers the Minkowski sum of an N-dimensional ellipsoid and hyperrectangle, a combination that is extremely relevant due to the usage of ellipsoid-adjacent primitives in computer graphics for work such as 3D Gaussian splatting.

On Reachable Sets of Hidden CPS Sensor Attacks
For given system dynamics, observer structure, and observer-based fault/attack detection procedure, we provide mathematical tools -- in terms of Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs) -- for computing outer ellipsoidal bounds on the set of estimation errors ...

Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

The Geometry of Differential Privacy: the Sparse and Approximate Cases
In this work, we study trade-offs between accuracy and privacy in the context of linear queries over histograms. This is a rich class of queries that includes contingency tables and range queries, and has been a focus of a long line of work. For a set of
