The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Pareto-Optimal Frozen Set Design for Polar Codes With Dynamic Frozen Bits Under Small-List SCL Decoding

open access: yesIEEE Access
This paper focuses on low-complexity design of polar codes with high error-correction capability for 6G networks. We propose a novel frozen set design approach for polar codes with dynamic frozen bits that guarantees the best possible trade-offs between ...

Fountain Codes with Nonuniform Selection Distributions through Feedback

open access: yes, 2015
One key requirement for fountain (rateless) coding schemes is to achieve a high intermediate symbol recovery rate. Recent coding schemes have incorporated the use of a feedback channel to improve intermediate performance of traditional rateless codes ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

M-PSK Cooperative Trellis Codes for Coordinate Interleaved Coded Cooperation

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2009
M-PSK cooperative trellis codes are proposed for two-user coordinate interleaved coded cooperation operating over quasistatic Rayleigh fading channels.

Performance Analysis of Quantum CSS Error-Correcting Codes via MacWilliams Identities [PDF]

open access: yesQuantum
We analyze the performance of quantum stabilizer codes, one of the most important classes for practical implementations, on both symmetric and asymmetric quantum channels.

Energy bounds for codes and designs in Hamming spaces

open access: yes, 2016
We obtain universal bounds on the energy of codes and for designs in Hamming spaces. Our bounds hold for a large class of potential functions, allow unified treatment, and can be viewed as a generalization of the Levenshtein bounds for maximal codes ...

Upper Bounds on Separating Codes

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2004
The combinatorial concept of separating systems has numerous applications, such as automata theory, digital fingerprinting, group testing, and hashing. In this correspondence, we derive upper bounds on the size of codes with various separating properties.

Constant-weight code bounds from spherical code bounds [PDF]

open access: yes2000 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (Cat. No.00CH37060), 2002
We present new upper bounds on the size of constant-weight binary codes, derived from bounds for spherical codes. In particular, we improve upon the 1982 Johnson bound and the linear programming bound for constant-weight codes.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
