Detection and Isolation of Digital Dermatitis Treponemes from Bovine Pressure Sores

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Pathology, 2016
Pressure sores cause severe pain and discomfort in hospitalized people and in farmed cattle and are often infected with unknown bacteria. Pressure sores occur on the upper legs of 6-10% of recumbent cattle and are generally considered to be caused by constant pressure, commonly on bony areas of the limbs.

Characterization of Novel Bovine Gastrointestinal Tract Treponema Isolates and Comparison with Bovine Digital Dermatitis Treponemes [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 2011
ABSTRACT This study aimed to isolate and characterize treponemes present in the bovine gastrointestinal (GI) tract and compare them with bovine digital dermatitis (BDD) treponemes. Seven spirochete isolates were obtained from the bovine GI tract, which, on the basis of 16S rRNA gene comparisons, clustered within the genus

Investigation into the delivery and evaluation of a unique Avena sativa (Oat) Lipid Extract on skin barrier using LC‒MS/MS, Raman spectroscopy, immunostaining analysis and skin efficacy

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, Volume 48, Issue 3, Page 500-517, June 2026.
Abstract Objectives Oat lipids are rich in ceramides. In this investigation, we analysed the delivery of a specific Oat Lipid Extract derived from Avena sativa, comprising ‘skin identical’ ratios of fatty acids, ceramides and cholesterol/sterol. This investigation is the first reported investigation of oat lipids utilizing Raman spectroscopy for the ...

Membrane Vesicles from Lacticaseibacillus Casei BL23 Exhibit Antimicrobial Activity Against Escherichia coli and Immunostimulatory Effects on Human Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 16, 24 April 2026.
Membrane vesicles derived from the probiotic Lacticaseibacillus casei BL23 demonstrate antimicrobial properties against Escherichia coli and a potential biological effect in improving the overall survival of C. elegans infected with Pseudomonas aeruginosa. These vesicles stimulated immune responses in primary cells without causing toxicity. Our results
