Hemagglutinating activity associated with bovine herpesvirus type 1

Veterinary Microbiology, 1985
Using C57BL/HPB mouse erythrocytes, hemagglutination has been observed with the Los Angeles and Colorado-1 strains of bovine herpesvirus type 1 and with 12 other Canadian field isolates as well. The specificity of the hemagglutination observed with the viral strains has been confirmed by a hemagglutination-inhibition assay.

Protein display by bovine herpesvirus type 1 glycoprotein B

Veterinary Microbiology, 2010
Glycoprotein B (gB) of bovine herpesvirus 1 (BHV-1), a major component of the viral envelope, is essential for membrane fusion during entry and cell-to-cell spread. It is cleaved in the trans-Golgi network by the proprotein convertase furin. Integration of the open reading frame (ORF) encoding a mutated gB with a second furin cleavage site and mature ...

Activation of bovine immunodeficiency-like virus expression by bovine herpesvirus type 1

Virology, 1992
Bovine immunodeficiency-like virus (BIV) is a recently identified lentivirus that infects cattle. The virus has structural and genetic similarities to human HIV. The present study demonstrates that BIV can be activated by bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BHV-1), a pathogen frequently associated with cattle diseases.

Bovine herpesvirus type 1 marker vaccine induces cross-protection against bubaline herpesvirus type 1 in water buffalo

Preventive Veterinary Medicine, 2014
Water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) are susceptible to bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BoHV-1) and a species-specific herpesvirus, bubaline herpesvirus type 1 (BuHV-1). In this study, an attenuated marker BoHV-1 based vaccine against BuHV-1 challenge was evaluated to determine whether it induces protection from viral replication.

Latent infection with bovine herpesvirus type 1

Seminars in Virology, 1994
Abstract As with other alphaherpesviruses, the molecular mechanisms that underlie bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BHV-1) latency and reactivation are poorly understood. Restricted transcription of the BHV-1 genome has been described in latently infected neurons of the natural host and in the rabbit latency model.

Effect of genistein on replication of bovine herpesvirus type 1

American Journal of Veterinary Research, 2002
Abstract Objective—To study the antiviral activity of genistein, a soya isoflavone, on in vitro replication of bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BHV-1). Sample Population—Madin-Darby bovine kidney (MDBK) cells. Procedure—Effects of genistein on the magnitude and kinetics of inhibition of BHV-1 phosphorylation of glycoprotein E ...

Serological survey of bovine herpesvirus type 1 infection in China

Veterinary Microbiology, 2008
To understand the nationwide seroprevalence of bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BoHV-1) infection of cows in China, 1344 sera of dairy cows from 29 provinces and 765 sera from 6 herds in Hubei province were collected with stratified random sampling. Another 483 sera from imported cows were included. The serum antibody was tested by BoHV-1 gG ELISA.
