Brassinin Inhibits Cell Survival and Autophagy via Modulation of ROS Production and the AMPKα‐beclin1 Signaling Pathway in Gliomas

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
Brassinin, a phytoalexin derived primarily from Chinese cabbage, exhibits potent anticancer activity against glioblastoma (GBM). Mechanistically, brassinin treatment elevates intracellular ROS levels in GBM cells, triggering two parallel outcomes: (i) direct induction of apoptosis, and (ii) suppression of cytoprotective autophagy through downregulation

Piper nigrum Has an Antitumor Effect Through Regulation of the Phosphatidylinositol 3‐Kinase Signaling Pathway in a Murine Model of Acute Myeloid Leukemia

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
Overview of the antileukemic effects of Piper nigrum extract in AML. P. nigrum reduced leukemic cell proliferation and glycolytic metabolism through modulation of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway. In vivo, treatment reduced leukemic burden, improved hematological parameters, prolonged survival, and modulated antitumor immune responses.

Melittin Reprograms Tumor‐Associated Macrophages Through CD18‐Mediated Immunomodulation

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
Melittin selectively targets CD18 to deplete M2‐TAMs and remodel the TME to suppress tumor growth. ABSTRACT Tumor‐associated macrophages (TAMs), particularly the M2‐like subtype, contribute to an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment and promote tumor progression.

Schisandrin C Targets PPARγ to Induce Ferroptosis in Colorectal Cancer Cells and Promote M1 Macrophage Polarization

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
Schisandrin C: A Dual Anti‐Colorectal Cancer Strategy Targeting PPARγ. ABSTRACT Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains a leading cause of cancer mortality, necessitating novel therapeutic strategies. Schisandrin C (SinC), a bioactive lignan from Schisandra chinensis, exhibits diverse pharmacological activities, but its anti‐CRC mechanisms are poorly ...
