In the initial design stage of vehicle development, it is important to estimate the strength of the structure against various loads. It is known that buckling occurs in thin-shell structures before yielding as the load increases, and that the structures ...

Buckling stress relation equations of box beam under compression and torsion
Recently, high strength steel is used increasingly for plates which constitute the frame structures of vehicles. Since these plates become thinner, the buckling on the plates has been recognized as an important issue for automotive industries.

Semiconductor quantum well excitons in strong, narrowband terahertz fields
Optical transitions between exciton states in semiconductors—intraexcitonic transitions—usually fall into the terahertz (THz) range and can be resonantly excited with narrowband, intense THz radiation as provided by a free-electron laser.

Extraction of Inherent Polarization Modes from an m‐Order Vector Vortex Beam
Superposition of two independent orthogonally polarized beams is a conventional principle of creating a new light beam. Herein, it is intended to achieve the inverse process, namely, extracting inherent polarization modes from a single light beam ...

Geometrically nonlinear analysis of thin-walled composite box beams
A general geometrically nonlinear model for thin-walled composite space beams with arbitrary lay-ups under various types of loadings has been presented by using variational formulation based on the classical lamination theory.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Behaviour of prestressed box beam strengthened with CFRP under effect of strand snapping
The study aims to evaluate behaviour of a prestressed box beam strengthened with the Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) under the snapping of prestressed strands. Three external prestressed box beams are tested until failure.

AN ANALYTICAL MODEL FOR COMPOSITE BOX-BEAMS [PDF]
A direct analytical beam formulation is developed for predicting the effective elastic stiffnesses and corresponding load deformation behavior of tailored box beams. Deformation of the beam is described by extension, bending, torsion, transverse shearing, and torsion related out-of-plane warping.
