Quantitative texture measurement of gray-scale images: Fractal dimension using an improved differential box counting method

, 2019
Texture analysis methods have been used in various image processing applications, such as segmentation, classification, and recognition, shape analysis. The performance of computer vision and image processing algorithms depend on visual texture patterns.

Is Box-Height Really a Issue in Differential Box Counting Based Fractal Dimension?

2019 International Conference on Information Technology (ICIT), 2019
Differential box counting method (DBC) is one of the most popular methods to estimate the fractal dimension (FD) of gray-scale images due to its simplicity and efficiency. Different parameters of DBC are modified several times to obtain a better FD value.

ON EFFICIENT BOX COUNTING ALGORITHMS

International Journal of Modern Physics C, 1993
We present two variants of a fast and storage efficient algorithm for box counting of fractals and fractal measures. In contrast to recently proposed algorithms, no sorting of the data is done. With comparable storage demands, CPU times are between 1 and 2 orders of magnitude lower than those needed with the latter algorithms.

Box Counting in Mathematica

2001

Estimating box-dimension by sign counting

28th International Conference on Information Technology Interfaces, 2006., 2006
In this article we examine the possibility of improving the recursive algorithm for computation of box-dimension of complex sets. The known method of box-counting is simplified down to the simple sign counting operation. Our target set is a "cloud" of amorphous points since many fractal sets are given in this form.

Lower Bounds on Box Counting for Complex Networks

Journal of Interconnection Networks, 2013
Determining the fractal dimension dBof a complex network requires computing N(s), the minimal number of boxes of size s needed to cover the network. While effective approximation methods for this problem are known, the computation of a lower bound on N(s) has not been studied.

Network Box Counting Dimension

2020
In this chapter we begin our detailed study of fractal dimensions of a network \(\mathbb {G}\). There are two approaches to calculating a fractal dimension of \(\mathbb {G}\). One approach, applicable if \(\mathbb {G}\) is a spatially embedded network, is to treat \(\mathbb {G}\) as a geometric object and apply techniques, such as box counting or ...

Fast differential box-counting algorithm on GPU

The Journal of Supercomputing, 2019
The differential box-counting (DBC) algorithm is the most widely used method for calculating the fractal dimension (FD) of grayscale images. FD analysis of grayscale images has important applications in fields such as shape classification, texture analysis and image segmentation. Nowadays these kinds of images can reach a very large size, especially in
