Lower Bounds on Box Counting

2018
Consider a box counting heuristic using radius-based boxes, e.g., Maximum Excluded Mass Burning. There is no guarantee that the computed Open image in new window is minimal or even near minimal.

Computing the Box Counting Dimension

2020
From roughly the late 1980s to the mid-1990s, a very large number of papers studied computational issues in determining fractal dimensions of geometric objects, or provided variants of algorithms for calculating the fractal dimensions, or applied these techniques to real-world problems.

Network Box Counting Heuristics

2018
In this chapter we examine several methods for computing a minimal set of diameter-based boxes, or a minimal set of radius-based boxes, to cover \(\mathbb {G}\).

Box-counting with base bn numerals

Physics Letters A, 1992
Abstract The position of a point in the unit cube [0, 1)n is usually approximated as an n-tuple of p-digit base b numerals. When collated, the base b digits form a single base bn numeral that is well-suited (indeed, tailor-made) for box-counting: Its p digits specify a sequence of nested n-dimensional cubes.
