From BPA to its analogues: Is it a safe journey?
Chemosphere, 2016Bisphenol-A (BPA) is one of the most abundant synthetic chemicals in the world due to its uses in plastics. Its widespread exposure vis-a-vis low dose effects led to a reduction in its safety dose and imposition of ban on its use in infant feeding bottles. This restriction paved the way for the gradual market entry of its analogues.

Bisphenol Analogues Other Than BPA: Environmental Occurrence, Human Exposure, and Toxicity—A Review
Environmental Science & Technology, 2016Numerous studies have investigated the environmental occurrence, human exposure, and toxicity of bisphenol A (BPA). Following stringent regulations on the production and usage of BPA, several bisphenol analogues have been produced as a replacement for BPA in various applications.

Evidence linking the toxicity of bisphenol A (BPA) to environmental and public-health issues has led to restrictions on its use. This compound has been gradually replaced with analogues proposed as a safer alternative, normally bisphenol F (BPF) and bisphenol S (BPS), but these substitutes are structurally almost identical to BPA, suggesting they may ...

The three-dimensional structure and the conformational behavior of a para-benzoylphenylalanine (Bpa) contg. trichogin dodecapeptide analog were evaluated using an X-ray diffraction anal. Results strongly support the view that, despite the unquestionable usefulness of the Bpa residue as a photoprobe, caution is needed in extrapolating the anal.

Environmental Pollution, 2023
Bisphenol S derivatives (BDs) are being widely used as novel substitutes for BPA and BPA analogues (BPAs), causing pollution in various environmental compartments. However, the occurrence and fate of BDs in coastal waters are currently unknown. To broaden the lens on bisphenols in coastal waters, this study measured a broad suite of 23 bisphenols ...

The Effects of BPA and its Structural Analogues on Adipocyte Differentiation
2022Obesity and the metabolic complications associated with it are increasing globally. Sedentary lifestyles, poor diet and genetic predisposition contribute to obesity. In addition, environmental chemicals such as Bisphenol A (BPA) may play a significant role.

Analytical determination of bisphenol A (BPA) and bisphenol analogues in paper products by LC-MS/MS
Food Additives & Contaminants: Part A, 2017Bisphenol A (BPA; 4-[2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)propan-2-yl]phenol), a suspected endocrine disruptor with a weak estrogenic activity, is used in a variety of consumer products, including food-contact materials made of paper and cardboard products. Due to restrictions on the use of BPA because of its potential health risks, BPA is gradually being replaced by ...

The international campaign to ban bisphenol A (BPA) has resulted in increasing application of BPA substitutes. However, investigations have mainly been confined to the removal of single contaminant from the water, resulting in an inefficient burden.

Synthetic Approaches to a Novel Iodinated Analogue of BPA
2001Prevailing clinical boron carriers for BNCT are disodium mercaptoundecahydro-closo-dodecaborate (sodium borocaptate, BSH) and 4-dihydroxyboryl phenylalanine (4-boronophenylalanine, BPA). It has been shown that boron-10 uptake and concentrations in brain tumours in vivo can be estimated using positron emission tomography (PET) for detecting 4-borono-2 ...
