The spectra of Br V, Br VI and Br VII

The vacuum spark spectra of bromine have been investigated under different degrees of excitation in the region λ 1400 to λ 400, by means of a Siegbahn spectrograph. From a careful scrutiny of the plates the lines have been assigned to the different stages of ionization of the element.

Spectra and energy levels of Br xxv, Br xxix, Br xxx, and Br xxxi

Emission lines of highly ionized bromine in the wavelength region 17–93 A have been identified in spectra recorded at the University of Rochester’s OMEGA laser facility. The wavelengths of 2s–2p transitions in nitrogenlike Br xxix, carbonlike Br xxx, and boronlike Br xxxi are presented.

On the BRS’s

After an analysis of the concept of Lagrangian gauge fixing, it is shown that the arbitrariness in the parametrization of gauge transformations gives rise to a whole family of classical BRS transformations. This is explicitly shown for the free-relativistic particle. Two inequivalent classes of BRS Lagrangians are defined.

BRS and anti-BRS symmetries in the planar gauge

The planar gauge is reexamined from various points of view. First, we find an annoying ambiguity in the definition of the product of two propagators. Second, Becchi-Rouet-Stora (BRS) invariance can be implemented only at the price of unavoidable second-order derivatives in the Lagrangian.
