Customized Metal 3D Printed Total Wrist Prosthesis in the Treatment of Severely Destroyed Wrist: Design Rationale and Clinical Applications

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 17, Issue 5, Page 1536-1546, May 2025.
Four patients with severe wrist destruction from various causes were treated with customized 3D‐printed prostheses. In addition to the specific articular surface matching their original radiocarpal joint, two innovative proximal component designs were created to address different bone defects.

Supplementary motor area deactivation impacts the recovery of hand function from severe peripheral nerve injury

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research, 2016
Although some patients have successful peripheral nerve regeneration, a poor recovery of hand function often occurs after peripheral nerve injury. It is believed that the capability of brain plasticity is crucial for the recovery of hand function.

Electrical stimulation of injured nerves promotes recovery in animals and humans

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Poor functional recovery after surgical repair is frequently disappointing. In an experimental rat model, we found that by isolating the effects of prolonged motoneurone isolation from targets (prolonged axotomy), reduced regenerative capacity and prolonged isograft denervation, and muscle denervation each reduced regeneration ...

Reirradiation: Standards, challenges, and patient‐focused strategies across tumor types

open access: yesCA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians, EarlyView.
Abstract Reirradiation (reRT), defined as administering a course of radiation therapy to a specific area previously irradiated, is an evolving treatment strategy for locoregionally recurrent cancer that offers significant potential and poses inherent challenges.

Parsonage–Turner Syndrome and Vocal Fold Paresis Following Soberana 2 FINLAY‐FR‐2 COVID‐19 Vaccination: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 11, November 2025.
ABSTRACT This case report presents a 58‐year‐old male who developed Parsonage–Turner syndrome (PTS) and vocal cord paresis after receiving the Soberana 2 FINLAY‐FR‐2 COVID‐19 vaccine. The patient experienced escalating pain and weakness in both shoulders and upper limbs after each vaccine dose, with subsequent neurological symptoms including headaches,

In vivo biomechanical responses of neonatal brachial plexus when subjected to stretch

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2023
Neonatal brachial plexus palsy (NBPP) results from over-stretching of the neonatal brachial plexus during complicated birthing scenarios. The lack of information on the biomechanical response of the neonatal brachial plexus complex when subjected to ...

Biomechanical analysis of brachial plexus injury: Availability of three-dimensional finite element model of the brachial plexus

open access: yesExperimental and Therapeutic Medicine, 2017
Adult brachial plexus injuries frequently lead to significant and permanent physical disabilities. Investigating the mechanism of the injury using biomechanical approaches may lead to further knowledge with regard to preventing brachial plexus injuries ...

Spread of Injectate After Combined Deep Serratus Anterior and Superficial Parasternal Intercostal Plane Injections: A Cadaver Study to Evaluate Their Utility in Breast Surgery

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 69, Issue 10, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Analgesia for breast surgery by a single peripheral nerve block is challenging as breast tissue receives innervation from multiple sources. In this cadaveric study, we evaluated the injectate spread of combined superficial parasternal intercostal plane (PIP) and deep serratus anterior plane (SAP) injections in the tissues relevant ...

The effects of modified constraint-induced movement therapy combined with intensive bimanual training in children with brachial plexus birth injury: a retrospective data base study

open access: yesDisability and Rehabilitation, 2019
Background In children with Brachial Plexus Birth Injury, a non-use of the affected upper limb despite sufficient capacity, is sometimes observed, called developmental disregard.

Neonatal Outcomes Among Infants of Mothers With Advanced Maternal Age: A National Cohort Study

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, Volume 114, Issue 11, Page 2893-2899, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Aim Maternal age has increased steadily worldwide over the last few decades. This study aimed to investigate how different degrees of advanced maternal were associated with adverse neonatal outcomes. Methods A nationwide register‐based study was conducted using the Swedish Medical Birth Register.
