Changes of the functional responses of the rotifers Brachionus rubens and Brachionus calyciflorus with particle sizes

Limnology and Oceanography, 1990
Effects of size and concentration of food particles on clearance and ingestion rates were studied for the rotifer species Brachionus rubens and Brachionus calyciflorus. Food algae of varying sizes were offered in short-term radiotracer experiments. For small particles, below the optimal size, feeding was best described by the rectilinear model with ...

Probiotic culture of the rotifer Brachionus plicatilis

Hydrobiologia, 1998
We adapted a probiotic culture system originally developed for domestic animals and fish for the intensive culture of rotifers. In this modification, a crude starter fluid was made by incubating a mixture of some 40 species of bacteria (so-called Uchishiro Microorganisms) with the by-products of other food-related materials.

Use of Freshwater Brachionus for Aquaculture

2017
Due to the rising demand for aquaculture and fish seed production, the utilization of freshwater Brachionus rotifer was discussed. One tropical strain, Brachionus angularis, isolated from Southeast Asia was studied, including its biological characteristics, as well as results of feeding tests to indigenous freshwater fish in comparison to other larval ...
