Three‐dimensional printer use in the Australian and New Zealand radiation therapy setting

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, Volume 69, Issue 4, Page 492-501, December 2022., 2022
This cross‐sectional survey aimed to established a baseline of 3D printer and product use within Australian and New Zealand radiation therapy departments. Survey response rate was 100% with 22.3% of departments reporting ownership of one or more 3D printers, and 34 departments purchasing 3D printed products from an external provider.

Prostate cancer aggressiveness and financial toxicity among prostate cancer patients

open access: yesThe Prostate, Volume 83, Issue 1, Page 44-55, January 1, 2023., 2023
Abstract Introduction Financial toxicity (FT) is a growing concern among cancer survivors that adversely affects the quality of life and survival. Individuals diagnosed with aggressive cancers are often at a greater risk of experiencing FT. The objectives of this study were to estimate FT among prostate cancer (PCa) survivors after 10−15 years of ...

Therapy decisions after diagnosis of prostate cancer in men with negative prostate MRI

open access: yesThe Prostate, Volume 83, Issue 1, Page 56-63, January 1, 2023., 2023
Abstract Background To investigate the clinical implications of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) negative prostate cancer (PCa) in a cohort of men undergoing transperineal prostate biopsy. Methods We included all men without prior diagnosis of PCa undergoing transperineal template saturation ± fusion‐guided targeted biopsy of the prostate between ...

Dosimetric equivalence of non-standard high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy catheter patterns [PDF]

open access: yesMedical Physics 36(1), January 2009, pp. 233-239, 2009
Purpose: To determine whether alternative HDR prostate brachytherapy catheter patterns can result in improved dose distributions while providing better access and reducing trauma. Methods: Prostate HDR brachytherapy uses a grid of parallel needle positions to guide the catheter insertion.

Importance of magnetic resonance imaging and prostate‐specific membrane antigen PET‐CT in patients treated with salvage radical prostatectomy for radiorecurrent prostate cancer

open access: yesThe Prostate, Volume 83, Issue 4, Page 385-391, March 2023., 2023
Abstract Background Accurate staging and identification of optimal candidates for local salvage therapy, such as salvage radical prostatectomy (SRP), is necessary to ensure optimal care in patients with radiorecurrent prostate cancer (PCa). We aimed to analyze performance of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and prostate‐specific membrane antigen (PSMA)‐

3T MR-Guided Brachytherapy for Gynecologic Malignancies [PDF]

open access: yesMagn Reson Imaging, 2012, 30(9):1279-90, 2013
Gynecologic malignancies are a leading cause of death in women worldwide. Standard treatment for many primary and recurrent gynecologic cancer cases includes a combination of external beam radiation, followed by brachytherapy. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is benefitial in diagnostic evaluation, in mapping the tumor location to tailor radiation dose,
