Seasonality, Moisture, and Host Community Structure of Haemaphysalis Ticks in a Subtropical Urban Mosaic in Hong Kong, China. [PDF]
We integrated field surveys, DNA barcoding and integrative taxonomy, iDNA, and ecological modeling to resolve the distributions, seasonality, and host use of Haemaphysalis ticks across Hong Kong. Moisture was indicative of adult activity, and iDNA suggested predominant feeding on wild mammals, particularly wild boar and porcupine.

A Method for Preparing Morphologically Preserved Wildlife Fecal Specimens for Long-Term Ecological Studies. [PDF]
This study introduces a novel multistep immersion method to preserve wildlife fecal samples, maintaining morphological integrity, DNA stability (100% extraction success, > 99% BLAST match rates), and resistance to mold/insect damage for 6 months. The technique also enables heavy metal detection, transforming feces into a durable resource for long‐term ...

Conserved Gene Order and Adaptive Evolution in Mitochondrial Genomes of Calappa Crabs: Insights Into Ecological Specialization and Phylogenetic Utility [PDF]
This study presents the first complete mitochondrial genomes of five Calappa species, filling a critical gap in genomic resources for the family Calappidae. Our analyses confirm the monophyly of Calappidae, detect positive selection in key energy metabolism genes (ATP6, ND2, ND5), and reveal conserved gene arrangement patterns.

Spatial habitat partitioning enables coexistence of three Gobiidae species in estuarine environments. [PDF]
Abstract This study examines resource partitioning (feeding morphology, diet and habitat partitioning) among three gobiid species, the Knysna sandgoby Psammogobius knysnaensis, the prison goby Caffrogobius gilchristi and the river goby Glossogobius callidus, within an estuarine environment.
