Switchable Bragg gratings

open access: yes, 2003
The subject of this ph.d. thesis was the development of an electrically switchable Bragg grating made in an optical waveguide using thermal poling to be applied within optical telecommunication systems. The planar waveguides used in this thesis were fabricated at the Micro- and Nanotechnology Research Center (MIC) at the Technical University of Denmark.

Nanostructuring Copper Tungstate Photoanodes: Performance Enhancement and Fundamental Limitations

open access: yesSmall Structures, EarlyView.
Nanostructuring of CuWO4 photoanodes yields a ~ tenfold photocurrent enhancement compared to dense films, reaching 0.6 mA cm−2 at 1.23 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode, among the best values reported for this material. Yet, performance remains far below the theoretical limit due to severe bulk recombination and poor electron transport ...

Evaluation of prestress losses in concrete beams using destructive and non‐destructive methods

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract Over the past few decades, prestressing techniques have become essential in the construction of key structures, infrastructure, and bridges. The serviceability and safety of prestressed concrete (PC) elements are closely tied to the effectiveness of the prestressing process.

A Dual‐Frequency Sensitivity Model for Optical Fibre Ultrasonic Sensors in Power Transformer Partial Discharge Detection

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The detection of partial discharges (PD) on the power transformer tank demands higher sensitivity in ultrasonic detection. To target the detection frequency band for sensor optimisation and enhance sensitivity, this paper presents a dual‐frequency sensitivity model for optical fibre ultrasonic sensors.
