Epilepsy characteristics in patients with muscle‐eye‐brain disease: A systematic review of electroclinical features

open access: yesEpileptic Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Objectives Muscle‐Eye‐Brain disease (MEB) is a dystroglycanopathy that belongs to the congenital muscular dystrophies. Central nervous system manifestations include congenital brain abnormalities, neurodevelopmental delay, and epilepsy, making it a rare but important cause of developmental and epileptic encephalopathy.

Diagnostic Brain Biopsy

Neurosurgery, 1979
Abstract A consecutive series of 50 diagnostic cerebral biopsies carried out over a 12-year period (1960 to 1972) at The Neurological Institute of New York is reported. The goal of the biopsy was to acquire a definitive diagnosis to aid the patient, counsel the family, and advance scientific knowledge. General indications for biopsy were

New Instrument for Brain Biopsy

Journal of Neurosurgery, 1963
Biopsy of deep-seated brain tumors through a simple needle puncture often is a desirable procedure provided tha t it can be performed with safety and with a good chance to remove enough tissue for microscopic diagnosis. I t is impor tant tha t this procedure should be done with little t rauma to the brain and minimal danger of provoking a hemorrhage. A

Stereotactic brain biopsy in AIDS

Journal of Neurology, 1992
In the hope of finding a treatable condition, the need for rapid diagnosis in HIV-seropositive patients with brain lesions is apparent. In order to evaluate the efficacy of stereotactic brain biopsy in AIDS patients, we retrospectively studied 25 HIV-infected patients undergoing stereotactic biopsy.

Comparison of Stereotactic Brain Biopsy to Interventional Magnetic-Resonance-Imaging-Guided Brain Biopsy

Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, 1999
Lesions within the brain are commonly sampled using stereotactic techniques. The advent of interventional magnetic resonance (MR) imaging now allows neurosurgeons to interactively investigate specific regions with exquisite visualization. We compared the safety and efficacy of this new surgical approach with stereotaxis. From February 1991 to June 1998,
