Normative data for two challenging tests of face matching under ecological conditions
Background Unfamiliar face processing is an ability that varies considerably between individuals. Numerous studies have aimed to identify its underlying determinants using controlled experimental procedures.

Interplay of integrins and selectins in metastasis
Here we review the role of integrins and their interplay with selectins in metastasis. The efficacy of integrin‐targeted therapies may be reduced in tumors where metastasis relies heavily on selectins. In certain tumors, integrins and selectins exhibit a synergistic interaction during intraperitoneal dissemination.

Idiosyncratic fixation patterns generalize across dynamic and static facial expression recognition
Facial expression recognition (FER) is crucial for understanding the emotional state of others during human social interactions. It has been assumed that humans share universal visual sampling strategies to achieve this task.

Background and objectives: The internal (GPi) and external segments (GPe) of the globus pallidus represent key nodes in the basal ganglia system. Connections to and from pallidal segments are topographically organized, delineating limbic, associative and

Foreseeing Brain Graph Evolution Over Time Using Deep Adversarial Network Normalizer [PDF]
Foreseeing the brain evolution as a complex highly inter-connected system, widely modeled as a graph, is crucial for mapping dynamic interactions between different anatomical regions of interest (ROIs) in health and disease. Interestingly, brain graph evolution models remain almost absent in the literature.

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

Functional Brain Imaging: A Comprehensive Survey [PDF]
Functional brain imaging allows measuring dynamic functionality in all brain regions. It is broadly used in clinical cognitive neuroscience as, well as in research. It will allow the observation of neural activities in the brain simultaneously. From the beginning when functional brain imaging was initiated by the mapping of brain functions proposed by ...

Rosetta Brains: A Strategy for Molecularly-Annotated Connectomics [PDF]
We propose a neural connectomics strategy called Fluorescent In-Situ Sequencing of Barcoded Individual Neuronal Connections (FISSEQ-BOINC), leveraging fluorescent in situ nucleic acid sequencing in fixed tissue (FISSEQ).

Ubiquitination of transcription factors in cancer: unveiling therapeutic potential
In cancer, dysregulated ubiquitination of transcription factors contributes to the uncontrolled growth and survival characteristics of tumors. Tumor suppressors are degraded by aberrant ubiquitination, or oncogenic transcription factors gain stability through ubiquitination, thereby promoting tumorigenesis.

On the geometric structure of fMRI searchlight-based information maps [PDF]
Information mapping is a popular application of Multivoxel Pattern Analysis (MVPA) to fMRI. Information maps are constructed using the so called searchlight method, where the spherical multivoxel neighborhood of every voxel (i.e., a searchlight) in the ...
