The Ventral intermediate nucleus (Vim) of thalamus is the most targeted structure for the treatment of drug-refractory tremors. Since methodological differences across existing studies are remarkable and no gold-standard pipeline is available, in this ...

Cognitive impairment in neuromuscular diseases: A systematic review
Neuromuscular diseases are multifactorial pathologies characterized by extensive muscle fiber damage that leads to the activation of satellite cells and to the exhaustion of their pool, with consequent impairment of neurobiological aspects, such as ...

Brain decoding from functional MRI using long short-term memory recurrent neural networks [PDF]
Decoding brain functional states underlying different cognitive processes using multivariate pattern recognition techniques has attracted increasing interests in brain imaging studies. Promising performance has been achieved using brain functional connectivity or brain activation signatures for a variety of brain decoding tasks.

Unraveling LINE‐1 retrotransposition in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma
The novel RetroTest method allows the detection of L1 activation in clinical samples with low DNA input, providing global L1 activity and the identification of the L1 source element. We applied RetroTest to a real‐world cohort of HNSCC patients where we reported an early L1 activation, with more than 60% of T1 patients showing L1 activity.

Effects of diffusion signal modeling and segmentation approaches on subthalamic nucleus parcellation
The subthalamic nucleus (STN) is commonly used as a surgical target for deep brain stimulation in movement disorders such as Parkinson's Disease. Tractography-derived connectivity-based parcellation (CBP) has been recently proposed as a suitable tool for

Brain mapping: Faradization of the mind [PDF]
Electromagnetic induction of focal currents in the brain - 'transcranial magnetic stimulation' - can be used to study cortical development and plasticity, as well as the organization of sensory and cognitive functions. It may also prove to be useful tool in the treatment of depression.

The tumor microenvironment is a dynamic, multifaceted complex system of interdependent cellular, biochemical, and biophysical components. Three‐dimensional in vitro models of the tumor microenvironment enable a better understanding of these interactions and their impact on cancer progression and therapeutic resistance.

White matter substrates of functional connectivity dynamics in the human brain
The contribution of structural connectivity to functional connectivity dynamics is still far from being elucidated. Herein, we applied track-weighted dynamic functional connectivity (tw-dFC), a model integrating structural, functional, and dynamic ...
