Evaluation of Tissue Doppler Echocardiographic Imaging findings in children with pulmonary hypertension

open access: yesThe Turkish Journal of Pediatrics, 2017
Tissue Doppler Imaging has become an important prognostic marker that can be used in follow-up and determination of the prognosis in pulmonary hypertension patients.

Brain natriuretic peptide: Diagnostic potential in dogs [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinarski Glasnik, 2009
The endocrine role of the heart is evident in the secretion of noradrenaline and natriuretic peptides. The secretion of natriuretic peptides presents a useful mechanism for different conditions of cardiac dysfunction.

TRIM40 Drives Pathological Cardiac Hypertrophy and Heart Failure via Ubiquitination of PKN2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies the E3 ligase TRIM40 as a key driver of pathological cardiac hypertrophy. TRIM40 binds PKN2 via its B‐box domain and, through its C29‐dependent catalytic activity, mediates K63‐linked ubiquitination of PKN2. This modification enhances PKN2 phosphorylation at Ser815, thereby driving hypertrophy.

Clinical application of amino-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide concentration in amniotic fluid for the prediction of preterm birth in symptomatic womenAJOG Global Reports at a Glance

open access: yesAJOG Global Reports
BACKGROUND: Preterm birth accounts for 60% to 80% of neonatal mortality. Approximately one-third of preterm births are caused by the spontaneous onset of preterm labor.

Relation between three-dimensional and two-dimensional echocardiography and biochemical analysis in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction percutaneously treated

open access: yesEinstein (São Paulo), 2010
Objective: The prognosis of patients with acute myocardial infarction depends on multiple features that can demonstrate myocardial injury degree (such as serum markers of cardiac necrosis), and also on adaptive mechanisms relative to the acute event. The

Low NT-proBNP levels in overweight and obese patients do not rule out a diagnosis of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is a heterogeneous syndrome that presents clinicians with a diagnostic challenge. The use of natriuretic peptides to exclude a diagnosis of HFpEF has been proposed.

Trametinib in Adults with Neurofibromatosis Type 1‐Related Symptomatic Plexiform Neurofibromas

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Mitogen‐activated protein kinase kinase inhibitors have shown promising results in treatment of plexiform neurofibromas in neurofibromatosis type 1 patients, but data in adults are limited. The aim of this phase 2 study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of trametinib in adults with neurofibromatosis type 1.

Brain Natriuretic Peptide

open access: yesJournal of the ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies
INTRODUCTIONBrain natriuretic peptide (BNP) is a cardiac biomarker used in the assessment of heart failure. Potentially, BNP levels can be used to stratify patients with thyroid storm (TS) who are at risk of complications such as heart failure and atrial fibrillation.

NT -pro BNP as a Mediator of the Racial Difference in Incident Atrial Fibrillation and Heart Failure. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Background Blacks harbor more cardiovascular risk factors than whites, but experience less atrial fibrillation ( AF ). Conversely, whites may have a lower risk of heart failure ( CHF ).

Case‐Based Immunology: B Cells and Systemic Sclerosis Interstitial Lung Disease

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is an important complication of systemic sclerosis (SSc), with high mortality and morbidity. Recent clinical studies in SSc‐ILD have led to US Food and Drug Administration–approved therapies in SSc‐ILD. Importantly, evidence from these studies has been extrapolated to guide management of ILDs of other systemic autoimmune
