Achieving High ON State Current through Ferroelectric Polarization‐Dependent Interfacial Resistance Switching in Undoped Orthorhombic HfO2 Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ferroelectric tunnel junction devices based on epitaxial undoped ferroelectric HfO2 films demonstrate stable switching endurance of over 106 switching cycles, low write voltages of ±3 V, 16 measured resistance states, and neuromorphic capability.

Complement peptide C3a stimulates neural plasticity after experimental brain ischaemia

open access: yes, 2016
Ischaemic stroke induces endogenous repair processes that include proliferation and differentiation of neural stem cells and extensive rewiring of the remaining neural connections, yet about 50% of stroke survivors live with severe long-term disability ...

A preclinical perspective on the enhanced vulnerability to Alzheimer's disease after early-life stress

open access: yesNeurobiology of Stress, 2018
Stress experienced early in life (ES), in the form of childhood maltreatment, maternal neglect or trauma, enhances the risk for cognitive decline in later life.

Integrated Field‐Free SOT Domain‐Wall Synapses and MTJ Stochastic Neurons for Hardware Boltzmann Machines

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Field‐free spin‐orbit torque domain‐wall synapses integrated with stochastic MTJ neurons enable compact hardware Boltzmann machines. Leveraging intrinsic stochasticity and multi‐level conductance, the system achieves efficient probabilistic learning with high accuracy, demonstrating a scalable spintronic platform for energy‐efficient edge AI.

Translational Considerations for Injectable Biomaterials and Bioscaffolds to Repair and Regenerate Brain Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The repair and regeneration of brain tissue faces both biological and technical challenges. Injectable bioscaffolds offer new opportunities to stimulate tissue regrowth in the brain by recruiting neural stem cells. Here, the translational issues are reviewed that need to be address to advance this promising new therapeutic approach from the bench to ...

Lipidomics and mass spectrometry imaging unveil alterations in mice hippocampus lipid composition exposed to hypoxia

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research
Lipids are components of cytomembranes that are involved in various biochemical processes. High-altitude hypoxic environments not only affect the body’s energy metabolism, but these environments can also cause abnormal lipid metabolism involved in the ...

Flash Assembloids: A Rapid Biofabrication of a Platform for Modeling Early Glioblastoma Invasion at the Glioblastoma–Brain Organoid Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a bioengineered assembloid (ASM) system combining glioblastoma (GBM) cells in oxidized alginate (OA) microgels with dorsal organoids (DOs). This model simulates brain tumor‐host interactions, revealing enhanced GBM invasion, altered gene expression, and aggressive infiltration patterns, demonstrating ASM as a valuable platform for ...

White Matter Plasticity in the Adult Brain

open access: yesNeuron, 2017
The study of brain plasticity has tended to focus on the synapse, where well-described activity-dependent mechanisms are known to play a key role in learning and memory. However, it is becoming increasingly clear that plasticity occurs beyond the synapse.

Hydrogel Microtube Drug Carrier for Catheter‐Based Intravascular Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This paper proposes hydrogel microtube carriers composed of barium alginate gel, enabling long‐term vascular retention without interrupting blood flow. Intravascular treatments have long been attracting attention for therapeutic efficacy, yet practical delivery methods remained unestablished.
