Practical Use of the Braking Attributes Measurements Results

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
This contribution deals with issues of braking the passenger car. The measurement of braking deceleration of the vehicle Kia Cee´d 1,6 16 V was carried out by an optical device Correvit system.

Membrane Vesicles from Lacticaseibacillus Casei BL23 Exhibit Antimicrobial Activity Against Escherichia coli and Immunostimulatory Effects on Human Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Membrane vesicles derived from the probiotic Lacticaseibacillus casei BL23 demonstrate antimicrobial properties against Escherichia coli and a potential biological effect in improving the overall survival of C. elegans infected with Pseudomonas aeruginosa. These vesicles stimulated immune responses in primary cells without causing toxicity. Our results

Accelerometer-controlled automatic braking system [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
Braking system, which employs angular accelerometer to control wheel braking and results in low level of tire slip, has been developed and tested. Tests indicate that system is feasible for operations on surfaces of different slipperinesses.

Congested Traffic States in Empirical Observations and Microscopic Simulations

open access: yes, 2000
We present data from several German freeways showing different kinds of congested traffic forming near road inhomogeneities, specifically lane closings, intersections, or uphill gradients. The states are localized or extended, homogeneous or oscillating.

Decellularized Extracellular Matrix Scaffolds to Engineer the Dormant Landscape of Microscopic Colorectal Cancer Liver Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Decellularized liver extracellular matrix scaffolds provide a platform to study dormant liver‐metastatic colorectal cancer. They induce reversible dormancy, in combination with nutrient depletion and low dose chemotherapy, through cell cycle arrest and chemotherapy resistance.

Statistical evaluation of regenerative braking of trucks with energy efficient mechatronic transmission [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
The article assesses the capabilities of regenerative braking in terms of braking efficiency when studying the motion of a model of an energy-efficient electric vehicle with a mechatronic transmission using motion cycles recorded on real vehicles.

Development of Heat Engines Powered by Twisted and Coiled Polymer Fiber Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Continuously rotating engines driven by thermally responsive actuating materials can turn waste heat into useful energy. For the first time heat engines operated by twisted and coiled polymer fiber actuators are demonstrated with engine design guided by two simple analytical models.

Multimodal Locomotion in Insect‐Inspired Microrobots: A Review of Strategies for Aerial, Surface, Aquatic, and Interfacial Motion

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This review identifies key design considerations for insect‐inspired microrobots capable of multimodal locomotion. To draw inspiration, biological and robotic strategies for moving in air, on water surfaces, and underwater are examined, along with approaches for crossing the air–water interface.

Evaluation of veracity of car braking parameters used for the analysis of road accidents [PDF]

open access: yesTransport, 2007
During the road accident analysis speed of the examined vehicle often is being established in accordance with the length of the trace remained by the vehicle tires.
