Safely Optimizing Highway Traffic with Robust Model Predictive Control-based Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control

open access: yes, 2016
Road traffic crashes have been the leading cause of death among young people. Most of these accidents occur when the driver becomes distracted due to fatigue or external factors.

A Vehicular Traffic Flow Model Based on a Stochastic Acceleration Process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A new vehicular traffic flow model based on a stochastic jump process in vehicle acceleration and braking is introduced. It is based on a master equation for the single car probability density in space, velocity and acceleration with an additional ...

Cascade‐Responsive MXene@Cu‐MOF Heterostructure Integrates Antioxidant Activity, Infection Control, and Vascularization for Tracheal Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A cascade‐responsive MXene@Cu‐MOF/GelMA hydrogel is engineered as a “skeleton–backpack” platform for extensive tracheal repair. The MXene framework scavenges postoperative ROS and converts NIR light into mild hyperthermia, while the Cu‐MOF component provides pH/NIR‐responsive Cu2+ dosing for infection control, angiogenesis, and chondrogenesis.

Chandra astrometry sets a tight upper limit to the proper motion of SGR 1900+14

open access: yes, 2008
The soft gamma-ray repeater (SGR) SGR 1900+14 lies a few arcminutes outside the edge of the shell supernova remnant (SNR) G42.8+0.6. A physical association between the two systems has been proposed - for this and other SGR-SNR pairs - based on the ...

Analysis of vehicle braking behaviour and distance stopping

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2018
Generally Vehicles show some degree of instability during braking as there are no real vehicles that are completely symmetrical. Especially when there is a component malfunction. There are many reasons for this incident: e.g. Failure of kinematic brake function, asymmetric mass distribution or brake imbalance.

ROS‐Responsive Wedelolactone Hydrogel Promotes Intervertebral Disc Repair by Disrupting the NF‐κB–LCN2 Inflammatory Feedback Loop

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A mechanically robust, ROS‐responsive hydrogel is engineered to treat intervertebral disc degeneration by targeting the NF‐κB–LCN2 inflammatory feedback loop. By delivering wedelolactone specifically within oxidative niches, this system disrupts macrophage–disc cell crosstalk.

Multi-parameter fusion method for hazardous state identification during the braking process of trucks

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering
Failures associated with braking systems and insufficient following distances are primary causes of rear-end collisions and rollovers involving trucks. Through a comprehensive analysis of hazardous states during braking and their contributory factors, a ...

Research on Braking Force Distribution Strategy for Race Cars Based on PID Algorithm

open access: yesWorld Electric Vehicle Journal
This study proposes a dynamic braking force distribution strategy based on a PID algorithm for Formula Student electric racing cars, addressing the limitations of fixed-ratio distribution methods in adapting to dynamic braking conditions.

Making meaningful comparisons between road and rail – substituting average energy consumption data for rail with empirical analysis

open access: yes, 2014
Within the transport sector, modal shift towards more efficient and less polluting modes could be a key policy goal to help meet targets to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.

Dorsal Raphe VIP Neurons Are Critical for Survival‐Oriented Vigilance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
DRNVIP neurons in mice and primates are strategically positioned to influence the central extended amygdala via feedback loops. They regulate the excitability of PKC‐δ neurons in the ovBNST and CeA through glutamate release. Their ablation heightens activity in these regions, disrupts active‐phase sleep architecture, enhances risk assessment behaviors ...
