Comparing Braking Torque Estimation Approaches for Active Health Monitoring of Braking Systems in Aircraft

open access: yes2022 IEEE Conference on Control Technology and Applications (CCTA), 2022
In aircraft braking, actuators must dissipate most of the aircraft mechanical energy, leading to an elevated degradation phenomenon which can impact the operating performances and compromise the safety of the maneuver. The health status of the component is related to its capability to deliver the right amount of output torque for a given required ...

Dynamics of railway wagons subjected to braking/traction torque

open access: yesVehicle System Dynamics, 2009
Braking or traction torque is regarded as an important source of wheelset skid and a potential source of derailment risk that adversely affects the safety levels of train operations; therefore, this research examines the effect of braking/traction torque

Innovative Methodology for Brake Torque and Residual Brake Torque Measurement

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1998
<div class="htmlview paragraph">During the design, evaluation and optimization process of automotive brake systems brake torque measurements are often crucial. Known brake torque sensors lead to differences in terms of mass, inertia, stiffness and brake cooling compared to a vehicle without measurement equipment.

Torque calibration with hysteresis brakes

2016 13th International Multi-Conference on Systems, Signals & Devices (SSD), 2016
Starting from static reference values an accurate torque measuring is achieved by hysteresis correction with splines. To generate a constant torque hysteresis brakes are used. By doing this the real device under test can be simulated in the second step of refeeding to national standards.

Adaptive Brake Torque Variation Compensation for an Electromechanical Brake

SAE International Journal of Passenger Cars - Electronic and Electrical Systems, 2012
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">A novel method for attenuation of brake judder directly at the source is proposed, utilizing an electromechanical brake to actively compensate for the variation in brake torque that causes judder. Taking advantage of the high-bandwidth closed-loop clamp force tracking performance

Wheel Optimized Brake Torque at the VE Mechatronic Brake

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2011
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Conventional brakes commence with given brake torque distribution and abruptly change to wheel individual torque corrections when ABS-ESP intervenes. This leads to less than optimal braking, firstly around the transition from “given distribution” to individual ABS-ESP control and
