Leaf Pruning End-Effector for Adaptive Positioning at the Branch–Stem Junction of Tomato Plants

open access: yesAgriculture
To address the needs of mechanized tomato leaf pruning, this paper presents the design of an end-effector capable of adaptive positioning at the base of the branch.

Technology of double casing tubes & a binary cycle system for hole cleaning for CBM multi-branch horizontal wells

open access: yesNatural Gas Industry B, 2017
At present, the aeration-assisted cutting-carrying technology is faced with complexities in the drilling of CBM multi-branch horizontal wells. For example, the aerating pressure is hardly maintained, and the borehole instability may happen.

Intrapatient tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution in an autopsy study of metastatic salivary gland cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution of metastatic salivary gland cancer were evaluated in two patients with adenoid carcinoma and one patient with myoepithelial carcinoma. Radiology‐guided autopsy enabled multi‐region sampling (total samples n = 149), followed by whole‐genome sequencing and phylogenetic reconstruction (17 tumour samples, 4–7 per ...

How cutting types and shading levels influence the vegetative propagation of Pereskia aculeata?

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology, 2023
Information from Pereskia aculeata Miller (Cactaceae) responses regarding the portion of the stem cuttings branch parental plants and the shading level need to be investigated in order to establish techniques for their producing seedlings.

ADP‐ribosylation: An emerging regulator of the epigenome

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ADP‐ribosylation has emerged as a dynamic epigenetic signaling mechanism that modifies histones and chromatin‐associated proteins. Through coordinated PARylation and MARylation, it integrates with other histone modifications to regulate chromatin structure, transcription factor activity, and gene expression, influencing genome function and disease ...

Simulation and Testing of Grapevine Branch Crushing and Collection Components

open access: yesAgriculture
Aiming at the problem of the low rate of resource utilization of large amounts of grape branch pruning and the high cost of leaving the garden, we design a kind of grape branch picking and crushing collection machine that integrates the collection of ...

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Branch-Cutting Beetles [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1880
IT is rather curious that the story which Mr. Ober was told in the Carribbees (NATURE, vol. xxii. p. 216) should be generally believed in Southern Brazil also, viz., that a large beetle “seizes a small branch of a tree between its enormously long nippers, and buzzes round and round the branch till this is cut off.” Only in the Antilles this cutting of ...
