Heat and Cold Waves in Brazil: An ERA5‐Based Analysis of Trends and Seasonality (1980–2024)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, Volume 46, Issue 6, May 2026.
This study uses ERA5 reanalysis data to assess changes in extreme heat and cold events across Brazil from 1980 to 2024. Results reveal a sharp increase in heatwave frequency and a general decline in coldwave occurrences, though regional variations are substantial.

New near-mine prospecting approach using multivariate analysis and reflectance spectroscopy to define surface footprint: A case study of the Pequizão Gold Deposit, Crixás Greenstone Belt, Central Brazil

open access: yes, 2023
The Pequizão gold deposit in the Crixás greenstone belt, central Brazil, is structurally-controlled mineralization hosted mainly in carbonaceous phyllite with pervasive hydrothermalized zones and large amounts of disseminated sulfides and gold. Usually,

Global Environmental Forcing of Coastal Waterline Variability Across Seasonal to Interannual Timescales

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract The position of the coastal waterline—the interface between land and sea—varies over time due to sedimentary and hydrodynamic processes influenced by climate variability. While previous studies have mainly focused on local morphodynamic or storm‐driven shoreline changes, the large‐scale climatic controls on global waterline variability remain ...

Neoproterozoic Anatexis of 2.9 Ga Old Granitoids in the Goiás-Crixás Archean Block, Central Brazil: Evidence From New SHRIMP U-Pb Data and Sm-Nd Isotopes [PDF]

open access: yesGeologia USP. Série Científica, 2003
The first SHRIMP U-Pb ages for granitoid rocks from the southern part of the Goiás-Crixás Archean Block (Caiçara andUvá complexes) are presented and discussed in combination with Sm-Nd isotopic data in order to elucidate the main aspectsof the geological

From Extension to Strike‐Slip Faulting Along the Western Continuation of the North Anatolian Fault in the Northern Aegean Sea: Structural, Geochronological and Geochemical Constraints

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 45, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract The Northern Aegean region preserves a complex deformation pattern shaped by Miocene extension driven by retreat of the Hellenic subduction system, later overprinted by Plio–Pleistocene transtension linked to the westward propagation of the North Anatolian Fault (NAF). Although numerous structural, geophysical and geochronological studies have

Metamorphic modeling and petrochronology of metapelitic rocks from the Luminárias Nappe, southern Brasília belt (SE Brazil)

open access: yes, 2019
The Luminárias Nappe was formed in the agglutination of West Gondwana. A high-pressure metamorphic gradient oblique to the geological contacts is recorded in metapelitic rocks from this Nappe.
